wassup ppl

i have been running nft and DWC for about 3 months without any proper ph or Ec meters.. not bcos im tight but cos i have been well skint recently.

anyway i splashed out on a Nutra Wand ec truncheon thingy with the flashing lights guitar.gif

im proper chuffed like yahoo.gif Lights are out at the mo so cant go and play with my new toy in the growroom but i have been testing out my tap water!! at first i thought the wand was broken as it didnt register aything when i dipped it in a glass of water, but i added some nutes and my wand was flashing away like mad! it works!

Whats the general opinion on these things, are they any good? They are self calibrating and im a little worried about that as i dont want false readings!

oh ya cost me £45 did i get ripped? nea.gif

Hi Urbanhalo,
they are an excellent piece of kit and you'll wonder how you got on without one previously.

Just thought i would share my findings over the past day or so....

My tap water has a pretty low ppm, too low for the nutra wand any way. I know it is soft water and the ph is 7.0 - 7.5 (depending on wat tap its taken from)

I use the canna aqua range of nutes. Uptil the last day or so i was feeding 1/4 stength nutes. After a wand dipping session i have increased the ppm in my bubbler from 200ppm to 800ppm (0.4ec -1.6ec) rofl.gif guitar.gif and the ph is pretty much stable and has been sitting at 5.6 for the past 2 days. I have noticed when adding nutes to the top up res the ph initially drops to about 4.5 but over the next 24 hours stabilizes in the correct range.

I have 2 brand new and STILL unopened bottles of ph up & down. i am well immpressed with my new truncheon and also the Canna Aqua range of nutes.

Youve hit the nail on the head. Im kicking myself i never bought one earlier and im trying to forget about the amount of nutes I wasted by dumping the res every 2 weeks for the past 4 months..ouch.. whistling.gif

anyway should be pretty much plain sailing from now on, i am now starting to record the water temp, ph and ppm/ec in a little notebook for my own future reference ph34r.gif

I might even kick start a journal over here in a few weeks like.

Anyways thanks for the words of encouragement dr Rockster, keep it green buddy wink.gif
