Fill a dish with a lil of the water that you have already prepared put the blocks in there until they have soaked up water. Basically water from the bottom cos algae will quickly grow if water is sitting on the top.Hope this helps. wink.gif

hi mate, im trying this for the first time too.

What i've done is rooted clones into 1" rockwool cubes, and when they have rooted i have put them into a small pot with clay pebbles. As this is my very first time with hydro im not too sure what im doing but i have managed to keep 6 out of 18 cuts fairly healthy, the rest i mangled up by fogetting to water and not potting up soon enough 34.gif
They deffo need to be watered every day, as clay pebbles dont hold much moisture at all.
Im using canna aqua vega nutes at 1/2 strength, ph'd to 5.6 and bubbled for 5-10 mins before watering.
Eventually i will put them into a bubbler.
Still though, its all a learning curve, most of my first clones in soil died, but i got 100% success on my last attempt! biggrin.gif

Im thinking about transferring some into perlite and some into vermiculite to see if there is any diference wink1.gif

Hiya Jjon,

just thoroughly soak your rockwool blocks then squeeze gently to remove about 10% of the water.
As to frequency of feeding, which will increase with time, just pick up each block and weigh in the hand.
You will soon develop a feel for estimating how wet or dry your blocks are.

Only word of caution is for you not to sit the blocks in a tray without drainage. If they sit in a puddle the plants can quickly drown.

dead right mate, its a learning curve.

i want to hand water them as my clone/veg area is on 2 shelves and res is in another area. i want the clones to be ready for going straight into my system and on 12/12 after current flowering plants have been chopped.

so i can get the crop time down as i have been putting plants into system and then waiting 2/3 weeks before going 12/12. makes the whole cycle seem endless.

Pot the blocks up into pots with pebbles and water them once a day with quarter strength nutes wink1.gif

If while you are waiting they fill them pots up rootwise then pot up again into slightly bigger pots.If you have the room then you can put em into their final pot size wink1.gif
