im going to run a sealed room with co2(ecotechnics599£)and im going to run 3x600 watt air cool shaeds or air stream air cooled shades?im going to have them drawing air from out side the room and duct it out side the room.this way the co2 doesnt get waisted and i can controll my room temps better.has any body used jet stream lights??are they any good...are they air tight??if not can i make them air tight??

I use the jetstream you have pictured on the right hand side and although it gets temps down from a conventional hood by about 8 degrees c in my room I still have to run quite serious fannage to get temps to acceptable levels.
The new improved jetstream has a 4" flange each end to get proper venting through rather than the inept 4x1" holes that mine has(I drilled a load of 10mm holes in my hood to help airflow past the lamp.

They are pretty air tight tho with a decent rubber sealing strip around the outside.

Edit to say mine is the one on the left not the right 34.gif

Im lookin into air cooled reflectors too, I went to have a look at both those pictured. The cool tube didnt look too clever, the reflector is very small, pretty poor. Though the jet stream is twice the price, it looks a lot better, a proper reflector, which given cost of leccy looked like it would pay for itself.

I read that you have to blow air into this shade, not suck it out, the cool tube you can suck or blow air in either direction.

As for air tight, you wont go to the moon in it, but it must be reasonably tight to work.

My concern with the jet stream is that the air is pushed through 4 small holes, each bout the size of a penny as I remember. This lead to me wondering if it was gonna slow my fan down too much. Im not sure you could put 3 in series the way you can with cool tubes.

Thats all I know Im afraid.

why couldnt u join 3 of them up..also i was told that the cool shades will cover 1 square meter.if this is true,im happy with that..then again the jet stream do look good.i was running air cooled super novas but its no good now im getting co2!!

You could try and join them up, but I dont think you would get the air flow youd need due to the small holes in them, after passing the first one the air flow would be much reduced before hitting the second, then third.

Looking at the cool tube the air isnt so restricted.

howdy greenman, instead of joing them why not get a rvk300 and a 3 way spigot to push the air into the 3 lights (each with own duct from spigot) then each can have its own outlet, just a thought...that way you could run them all off 1 fan on a thermostat if required.

i got 8 cool tubes in my room with each pair inline - cooled by a 6" vortice fan, the noise is amazing if noise is a problem for you then i wouldn't bother - also there is light that comes out the end of the ducting which at night is quite scary - also i find that although they are cooler than normal lamps they aint that cool - i am currently having temp problems that i often have to switch off two lights to keep the temps down.

they also suck in dust and deposits it on the inside of the shades which means they ahve to be cleaned every few days even though i have covered the vents with a sheet to act as a filter - its a real pain in the ass!

i am trying the larger cool shades to see if they run cooler - i hope they will as i have invested a pile of money in this co2 system and all that goes with it so i am determined to make it work.

i will take a pic and let you all see the set up.

regards
