Hi everyone,

This is my first ever grow from seed and I've just switched over to 12/12 yahoo.gif and have been reading up on my Nitrozyme. According to this website, (advert removed)
QUOTE
Nitrozyme is a plant extract which is quality controlled for particular growth hormones. To name a few - Cytokinins - Auxins - Enzymes - Giberellins - Ethylenes - plus many Micro-nutrients.

QUOTE
Timing of the application is essential. If you apply a hormone to a plant, the result will be stimulated growth of the type which the plant is currently undergoing. If the plant is forming roots, more root growth can occur. If tillering is underway, more tillers will be formed. If stem growth is in progress, that is what will occur. If flowering is in progress more flowering will occur.

This suggests to me that it would be ok to water (not spray) my plants at least once with Nitrozyme during the flowering period. I'm gonna get the stretch out of the way first, as I have read that applying Nitrozyme during this stretching phase will make them stretch more.

I have fed once with Nitrozyme during the vegetative period and it seems to have given them a boost. I am planning to feed again in 2 or 3 weeks as I want to give my darlings a treat.

Has anybody used Nitrozyme or does anybody know of a reason why I should not give this feed to my plants during the flowering cycle?

Thanks in advance

N.B, I've just had to look up what Tillering / Tiller means as used in the second quotation, if anyone is curious...Tillering is the stage a plant goes through when side shoots are developing which each may carry its own flower and ear. Each such shoot is a tiller.

If you are growing hydro and have a complete nute specifically for our beloved plant then you wont need Nitrozyme as the food has everything the plant needs wink1.gif

Nitrozyme is used more for young uns and mothers when they only need a feed say once a week or once a fortnight wink1.gif

Plus its a decent foliage spray for young cuts wink1.gif

I read in your profile that you are hand watering ionic so theres no need to add nitrozyme aswell tbh or you'll end up overfeeding em wink1.gif

Hi owd, Cheers for your reply mate.

I am indeed currently hand-watering on about 5ml/l of Ionic Grow but regularly flush with just ph adjusted water.

I was only intending on using Nitrozyme as a one-off, on its own with no other supplemental feeding, like I did during the vegetative growth phase. I take care not to overfeed and I am not adding with every feed.

Nitrozyme is said to contain Cytokinins, Auxins, Enzymes, Giberellins, Ethylenes, 70 trace minerals and the following vitamins: A (Carotene), B1, B2, B12, C, E, K, biotin, copper, niacin, choline, panthothene, boron, folic acid and folinic acid.

It is my impression that the ionic grow does not contain any specific plant hormones or anything special. I just thought it contained the NPK and trace elements.

Don't get me wrong, the Ionic Grow has been working well for me, I am very pleased with the results, and I know the plant will make these vitamins, hormones and other organic compounds by itself. I just thought I would help it out by providing some ready-made compounds and I am particularly interested in what the effect would be of boosting the plants hormone levels during flowering.

I might apply the feed to one plant when the time comes so I have a control group to draw comparisons with and come to my own conculsions.
