Blesings Children of the Bong, it's the Pope here.
No, I'm not a real pope - I'm the pagan pope that smoks dope.....

Anyhoo, I’m in the market for seeds at the moment and would appreciate some advice. A few years ago I grew some wicked Superskunk from seed then made cuttings until the fifth generation or so ( I didn’t have room for a mother). But after that I had a terrible experience buying 10 expensive seeds (sensi seedbank – 9 were males and one was a haemo!!) Basically I want to end up with about 30 plants so I want to get sixty seeds. I fancy Serious Chronic as I’ve heard good things about them but want to spread any risk by getting some others. I’m tempted by feminized seeds but have heard they have a tendency to go haemo. I just wondered what the general consensus was on feminised. I’ve read a few grow diaries but nobody seems to have compared yields of feminised and non feminised of the same strain. I’m quite tempted by Chimera C4 – has anyone else tried these. I have to be honest and say, this time around, yield is a major consideration (there be time for Jack Herrer and his mates later!) so Powerplant is a contender too. What do people think?

a did 5 feminised seeds last year no problems
ma mate has the other 5 on the go now no problems
am growin some mazar fems the now seem ok
personaly a dont have the space fer males
what will happen once a work ma way through the feminised range is another matter
the first lot were sacra frasca as for yield a dont think fem or non fem could make a difference
a have read of people saying clones from fems could go herme but a doubt wither anybody
has seriously done the test

Why not Raz?

I'm in the no feminised seed in my grow room camp too. Non fem seeds are easy, weed out the males early. You get a fem seed go hermy on you during flowering and that's a different matter. Like Raz said, not with yours.

That's cool Shanti - guess theres a difference of opinion here unsure.gif i think i will go with normal seeds - that way I know what's what. I'm thinking C4 and Chronic. I hear Mr Nice lost a lot of seeds lately?

Interesting..I was just searching the uk420 archives for talk on feminised seeds and came across this thread. I'm not even close to molecular biology as some of the contributors here, so simple janet & john replies only please.

Your post leads me to assume that feminised seeds will have a higher probability of producing a hermaphrodite. That doesn't seem an unreasonable thing to assume considering some genetic elastic-trickery is going on to ensure female from seed.

However in the past grows I have done from seed (all non-feminised - 'ordinary' seeds (from sensiseed bank circa mid 90's)), after weeding out the males (8 from 15!!), two of the fems also produced the odd male flower..one more than the other, but I killed them quick and cloned the goodies. Another set of seeds produced similar results. Was I just that unlucky?

Fast forward to now with said strain now extinct and I'm looking at seeds..

It would seem to me from my past experience...ordinary seeds from a *cough* reputable seedbank can/will/do produce male, female and perhaps hermy. So why not at least cut down the odds by using feminised seeds if you don't wish to deal with males/breeding but rather prefer to clone..?

Thoughts on a postcard please

I to would not touch Fem seeds with urs, i have had my 1st experience with 100% feminised seeds and the both i germed turned out to be males just my 2ps worth.

I have grown out about 20 seeds from female seeds.nl with not one single problem.

I'm growing from fem seed at the moment. ( Sacra Frasca. )

Two weeks into flower, all are female with no butch tendancies.

My reason for going for feminized was due to space limits in
my grow space. I have room for 5 plants at a push.

If I plant five normal seeds and even get 3 females, I've still
lost out on grow space during veg. and a drop in final yield due to
losing the males. It doesn't seem efficient enough.

If fem seeds can give me a better chance of growing five plants
to bud then all the better.

If I had a bigger grow space, I could handle losing some plants as
my yield would satisfy my personal use.

Seems to be working so far...

Those who have had problems with feminized seeds, what strains
were you growing ?

Maybe some strains are better than others.
