hello all, hope everyones well and enjoying this fantastic summer weather !!!

just a quickie, ive just got myself a 400 hps from fastlight and in the middle of doing the balast rellocation thing.

What i want to know is, is it really necessary to cut the casing as i cant really see the point.

if im missing something very obvious then please let me know

I'm sure there is a pinned topic on this in growrrom builder or lighting requirements.
I think the casing is only cut as a matter of tidyness(and that would depend entirely on the finished job.

you don't need to cut the ballast out completey
i have done another two lamp's and only cut the plate that the component's are mounted to
and it work's just as well as removing the full ballast from the lamp's

I'm using a 400w fastlight and, what I've done is removed the ballast AND both end plates, this allows for the hood to be opened out giving a wider lightspread also, it meant I could remove the ballast from the flowering room which helped enormously with temp control.
