hello to all at uk420! ive been into the growing for a while now and unlike a few very close freinds who all grow hydro i grow in soil.there all going on about whos got the biggest plants, buds, ppm blah blah blah and when we meet to smoke and talk growing there like hydro is the way to go not soil.ok they only grow a few larger plants to my 28 soil sog grow and get a bit more yeild than me.all i can say is there into yeild and nothing else, ive tried loads of there hydro chemical diffrent weed and some not bad,not as good as soil and others taste rancid, smoking chemicals tastes very similer to putting a few dog hairs in a joint but they dont see it or get where im coming from. stuff them they will never turn me to the dark side! anyway on to the quistion i need advice...best water ph for organic soil growing, some say dont ph some say use water straight from tap because the ph is lower others say dont go under 6.5 where as others ph to 6. i ph to 6.5 with citric acid from canna is this the way to go?...24/7

Morning mate and welcome to a crackin site. Im soil also and often wonderd the same thing. As far as i know, in soil the ph will sort itself out with the micro organisms and all that. I also might try putting air into my watering cans for a few mins. Will check ltr for more replies when everyone gets up. Good luck with your grow bud.

hi there OT! hope all is well at your end.ive been smoking the weed for a long time and growing for around the last 5 years.i started growing in soil and still do, my close mates who all grow hydro laugh at my 28 sog grow as they get more yeild of 4 big hydro plants but dont see the taste diffrence, which is like loads diffrent! for example white rhino isnt the best taste around and hydro doesnt do it any favours at all, where as my latest organic rhino tastes great with no shitty aftertaste at all, unlike there chemical weed!. im organic and happy so will stick to what i love and know best.anyway on to growing, what would you say is the best home made or purchased soil mix to use, also right ph and if have to ph up or down whats the best product to use, i use cannna citric bio,i think and ph to 6.5 as if i dont its around 8.0.if you could put me in the right dirrection it would be very much apreciated.also thanks to your priceless bonsai thread that i study again and again i also have a litte bonsai garden and bloody proud of it too! cheers buddy...24/7 smoke.gif

First have you ever thought of using paragraphs? A big block of text makes following varying points and concepts hard for my old brain.

Did you read the topic Bish gave link to above and the other topic I linked to about buffering? Did you understand them?

Because you seem to be saying/asking me again exactly the same Q’s as you were in this topic before Bish gave you the link. ie: you seem to have ignored the implication of the information in the links.

So, since reading the two linked topics, what exactly is the result of the buffering of the compost you use after testing it? 1. with tap water 2. with distilled water? Why are you still asking about using ph down, if you have not taken buffering into account.

Having a tap water ph of 8 would be very important with water culture, it may be with compost, but the science behind how water works in a tank against in compost or soil is not even remotely the same, ie one to the other.

Also have you looked at what effect the fertilisers you use have on your water?

Finally at the end of the day in the unlikely event that you did need to adjust your water ph, you can buy pure food grade citric acid crystals from a wine making supplier at about 3 or 4 quid for 500grams, enough to last you a life time of growing I would think.

Yes I was at the hemp fair thurs, fri, sat and sun. All you had to do was ask for me, hang around nattering and puffing until I came back as I tend to wander about.
