Morning pot pickers just wanted to share my thoughts on ventilation in my loft grow any thoughts and opinions welcome cos im shit at maths tbh and threads on this topic leave me a bit wacko.gif

Grow is a double bed with the 2 sections joined together giving a grow area of

670x820x1300 heigh giving 0.7 cubic meters according to united cargo.

aiming to flower about 4 plants with a mind to doing scrog in the future due to the height restrictions.

will be using my 250hps for the most part though a 125w blue or red envirolite might figure as need be.

First up can someone (i know this is covered in soooo many threads but like i say im not licensed to use a calculator) tell me how many air changes im looking for?

i have at my disposal a tdk160 for intake and a chaysol fan and 5" filter for extraction. now im sure perhaps with some tinkering that these will do the job whistling.gif

My next question is about where to extract/inhale? to and from.

Now this loft grow is also my bedroom so im hoping to keep temps to a reasonable level as i don't want to wake up with icicles on my nose so have some fan heaters as back up to the central heating.

in the pic you can see the side of the grow room, it's inlet and outlets and an air brick of which there is another one on the other side of the growroom and accesible. now these two airbricks are on the gable end and there is a house an alley ways distance. The alley way doesn't take any sun and so in summer i will use the both of them for in and out. but what for these cooler months.

im thinking to bring air in from the loft/bedroom area and extract through the air brick thus bringing in warmer air whilst exhaustiong to outside. this anoys me a bit as i'd like to pump that warmer air back in the loft/bedroom but im not sure if this would mean recycling the air. couldn't possibly tell you the volume of the loft due to its shape but im told its rather drafty (at the moment).

Like i say any help greatly appeciated.

hi

at a rough guess i'd say you have more than enough fannage to keep adequate airflow in what in really quite a small room smoke.gif

however i'd advise against exausting into the room (that is what youre suggesting?) , whilst on the face of it it might seem like a good way to make use of the heat generated by the g/r, in time you will have problems with moisture in your loft/bedroom ...by all means drag air into your g/r from either outside or the loft space according to the prevailing conditions but imo you should always be pumping your exhaust outside wink.gif

hope this helps

thanks cheese farmer, points taken. your right it is a small grow space and i hope this helps with temp and enviroment control.

Hi 3rd smile.gif

You have 2.1ft x 2.9ft = 6ft2. Your 250hps will give you 41w/ft2

For volume you have .63 x .87 x 1.3mtr = . 7m3
Multiply by 20 to get air exchange every 3 mins and you're looking at 14m3/hr as being minimum req'd thumbsup.gif

There's a growroom calculator that you might find easier to use in the growroom design forum here;

Best of luck
