Hi ,
Earlier this year I crossed Lowryders and made some Lowryder x Lowryder seeds , lots of them ! I've been growing these outside on the decking with good success since early May . All have autoflowered but the yeild is obviously low (between 1/8 and 3/8 per plant) . I was hoping someone had grown Jointdoctors Lowryder x MT who could advise if these also autoflower . Anyone ?

cheers

I haven't grown it.... buuuuut.. Lowryder crosses are said to generally have a 25% autoflower chance. It's been a long time since I've bothered to read anything on the matter, but if I remember correctly - the plants that don't autoflower can be set on 12/12 until flowering starts, then they can be put back on veg hours (yet they'll carry on flowering).

Correct me if I'm wrong, though smile.gif

There are official lowryder forums out there somewhere.. I've lost the link, but I'm sure you'll find it if you search hard enough guitar.gif

I put in ten beans at the end of May this year hoping for a few autoflowers. One of the seeds was mutant and had two seedlings in and the rest germed so I had 11 plants from 10 seeds!! One died so in the end 10 plants got to maturity and nine were female, not bad, just luck I guess. I flowered three under 125w Red enviro when they were about 8" tall and they yielded about 1/3 ounce each, one of them the earliest flowerer was pollinated. The other six which had been under flouros to show sex were put outside in the beginning of July, they were two weeks into flowering.

They were all 35 days old when they were put under 12/12 and none of them autoflowered.

The six outside now are budding up nicely, probably ready about mid Oct as long as the weather holds.

The yields are small and the buds are long and thin, as are the leaves. They look very sativa rather than indica and take an age to flower.

The indoor ones have been cropped and the high is uplifting and light, very good for social occasions. Very different from most stuff I've grown which has been on the indica side, but not a full on trippy sativa either.

There wasn't one of the seedlings which looked the same, very varied but they have all ended up as uniform plants.

I like the variety because it's different from stuff I smoked before. Not a high yielder but so far no mold outside and hopefully because of the long skinny buds mould shouldn't be too much of a problem.

One of my most succesful crops if not the highest yielder, overall something different and worth growing at least once.

One other thing, a really nice smell and taste. Best way of explaining it, is to compare it to Lemon PEZ sweets. Very light nothing cloying.

Is the autoflower trait something you want to keep or would you rather be able to control the veg/flower stages with lights. smoke.gif Just curious 34.gif

Hello ,
Yes I would like to keep the autoflower aspect . It's the stealth thing I like for outdoor growing plus I got my first outdoor crop of LR in June this year . Last year I grew a huge plant , my garden is overlooked on all sides so I really don't want to risk it again . I always have a few Lowryders on the go in my vegging room which is useful especially if I'm caught between the few weeks between chop and cure of the main crop . I will try the LR x MTF anyway once I get organised smile.gif

ps It would be nice to try other auto's , any ideas on any more strains ?

cheers

Sorry for the infrequent postings. The six plants I had outside all reached near maturity by the third week of October. The weather was kind not much rain during the last few weeks. They could have done with a couple more weeks really though.

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures but all the plants reached about 4.5 feet tall and about four feet across, pretty uniform. They were very heavily branched with lots of fluffy buds, no big colas.

This was advantageous for keeping the mould off, I only got two small patches on the plants before harvest. They were some of the best plants for keeping mould at bay.

Between them they managed to produce about 20 ounces of bud. Because of the small nature and fluffiness of the buds they were a nightmare to trim, it must have taken about 25 hours all told to trim. Far to long when time is pushed.

The finished smoke is alright, nothing great though, more sativa than indica, and not as strong as the indoor plant I finished in the summer, probably due to needing a couple more weeks outside.

In all they finished later than I hoped, they are a pain to trim but they do stay small and the seeds were very high percentage female.

Nice tasting smoke, and a bit different. Herb 7/10.

I also made some hash from trics that fell through the screen which I use for trimming and bagging. I’ve never had trics that melt so easily. I had a couple of grams, which I put, in small plastic bag, squeezed once between thumb and finger and instant gloopy black hash. It’s very trippy Hash 8.5/10.

I would suggest if you do grow it make hash from the plants, this would avoid all the trimming and you get a proper nice end result.

Cheers

Holy Shit! That's a 'Twin', isn't it? I've not heard of that happening before...

Both of the twins lived, even the runt, they grew into standard plants.

Reading through the above posts I can say that after having my plants on 12/12 for two weeks and then putting them outside they did reveg, they carried on pushing out flowers but only one or two at each node until the day lengths shortened and they started to flower properly again.
