Hi there and welcome to UK420.
High pH does not mean using nasties like phospheric or (even worse) nitric acids.
Using these acids can alleviate one problem, but can cause others.
Get a little heavy handed with the acid and you can find other issues rearing their ugly heads, (phosphate & nitrate overloads for instance), which will taint your weed and make it burn unevenly, and also leave a metallic tang on your tongue.
You could try using a safer option such as acetic acid, which is readily available in its more common form. Vinegar.
A pH of 7 is not particularly high. My tapwater is off the scale at 8.7 and even I was able to pH down with vinegar.
Pure lemon juice is another safer option. Either out of them silly little plastic lemons, or even better, straight out of a fresh lemon.
Squeeze a lemon or two into a jug for more control of how much pH down you add.
If you get a little heave handed, you can pH up a bit, just by adding some more water.
I don't suffer the trendy "anti-chemical" thing that a lot of growers seem to, but if you can keep things as natural as possible, thats a good thing isn't it?
Good luck with the grow!
