I have had this problem 3 times in a row now, I hand feed the plants with no problems until they are 6 inch tall (they are watered once a day),
when I plant in to the f/d in the mother room, they start to show signs of magnesium deficiency, the ec is 0.8,cf 8, ppm560 and PH is 5.7/5.8.
I have added Epsom salts at 1.5 tea spoons per gallon of water, now the ec is1.8, cf18, ppm 1260, PH is still at 5.7/5.8, can over watering bring on magnesium deficiency??. Thanks..

It sounds more like the overwatering is the problem rather than it causing mg def. Under watering is better than over. Leave them alone for 2-3 days and let the soil dry out.

While you're waiting do a search for watering routine, there's one here somewhere.

im not useing soil m8, only hydrated clay bolls, do you think they will last that long in this medeum..
Owderb
no mate they wont.
I'd leave the epsom salts out now cos once should be enough if it was Mag.
I personally would feed once a day with the ph you already have but up the ec to 1.2.
It maybe that with them being 7 weeks old they are gaggin for some food. wink.gif

Sorry, I saw 5 gallon pots and thought soil.

Didn't even notice it was in the hydro section, I just click view new posts these days.

Hi Daygo, as owderb says leave the epsom salts alone, I have plants that are at the same stage and I have underfed them, and yes symptoms are similar to mg def. I am ruuning a flood and drain + dripper systems both with clay pebbles. I'd say that the flood and drain was more similar to manual watering and my timer runs every 3hours for 2 minutes, so I would at least give them another watering through out the day.
