A thought occured to me recently, whilst mulling over my fledgling grow ideas......

If you are an indoor closet grower, can you stunt your plants growth with lack of CO2. I am aware that the grow space must undergo frequent air changes, to keep CO2 levels up, but if you arent venting outside the house, because you cant, could you run into trouble?

I mean say the grow box is inside a closed room. The window must be shut because you are going out to work or wherever. Could CO2 levels become so low - in the sealed room or house -during the period of your absence that growth is affected?

Obviously this is a function of the size and number of plants, but I did wonder?

PS - If I am being ridiculous and this could never happen, if you ensure to open a window once a day, then pleae tell me lol.gif

in a crammed grow room your looking to change the total air volume within the area once every 3 mins or so... more often, if your trying to shift excess heat or your humidity is sitting high wink.gif
answer to your question, Yes.. plants stunt considerably without c02, same as we would without o2.

Cheers....ya, but how then do indoor cultivators get round this problem?? Even if heat and humidity arent too bad, thats still a lot of air exchange per day - probably bigger than the volume of your house lol.gif

Thanks smile.gif
Goodbloke
Fresh (well as fresh as it gets) is drawn into my house from outside through a myriad of routes. I leave the air vents on all the windows open, whilst the windows are still locked and closed.

During lights on the girls have access to as much air as is required and during lights off it is a little more limited due to light proofing.

Depending on the number of plants your growing they would utilise the available CO2 in a small room fairly quickly, but with an open door i wouldnt anticipate to many problems if they have a whole house to draw from especialy if you allow some ingress to fresh air from outside somewhere in the house.

Good luck with it

normally workhorse inline fans are used to intake and extract the right amount of air(adjusted with controllers).
check the shop and you`ll see what i`m talking about smile.gif
