:0 After the seeds break thru the soil and get my 3-4 real leaves not the first two...let it veg. for only a week? And then start to flower? They will only reach a foot or two wont they?  Calyx

MJ doubles or trebles in size after being put into flower (12/12).
Flowering a week old plant will not bring you much in the way of bud.....if any.
A one week old plant is still a seedling and as yet not sexually mature.
I would veg my plant for at least 4 weeks to be confident of getting a crop worth harvesting.

Get a propogator and start raising the little plants before they go in the growroom. I have a fleuro-tent with propogators in it (like a big Toblerone made of MDF - white reflective inside - black outside. The plants get 4-6 inches in here (from clone and seed)- so when they go into the HID light - they're up and running - they can turn that light into sugars and grow quickly.

Otherwise the first two weeks of veg are spent growing a dozen 'cress-sized' plants. With a propogation stage you can cut the veg down to three weeks. Don't corner-cut in the flowering stage however. The female cannabis plant starts out pretty chilled - but when pollination fails to happen and it approaches the end of the season the plant goes into panic-mode and every ounce of energy goes into producing flower buds - desperately trying to catch pollen. Harvesting before this happens leads to much less yield - though a proportion of the THC has reduced into CBD and CBN - so slightly less potent - but tastier.

Anyway - that's another subject entirely - I'm sure...

What calyx is talking about is the donkey dick method which does work. Growing your plants under flouro's in a propagator is the best way, not only to protect young plants at an early age but they also respond well to the emissions given off by flourescents.
By putting a seedling thats just shown its head under a HPS light for one week, the crop will be small, but it will grow as one bud up the stem and will look like the dick of a donkey.
This is a good method to use if space is limited and you are using all female seed. A plant that has been put into the flower cycle after one week (say 6 inches tall) will grow to about 2 foot when finished.
And yes the plant is not fully mature until the 4th internode of leaves have grown.
If this is for the basement grow with lots of space then grow the plants for up to 4 weeks like hempy said.

Ummm, you can flower a seed at 1 week and get a result? lol.gif

I think it's more probably they use clones vegged for a week. Actually, I've never flowered a seed which isn't mature. What happens?
