While working in the music industry, obtaining an old speakercabinet wasn't verry
hard, one crapy StageLine speaker was handed to me for free, because of
malfunctioning. Taking all parts out, speaker, horn and filters, gave me an
exellent, ready to use, StealthBox. The hole were the crossover-filter was setup,
is the exact for a 10cm pc-cooler. Adding some ductape to a bulbfitting, fitted it
perfectly in the stand-holder hole. Sidewalls coverred with a cheap Mylar
substitute, some inside out wrappingpaper. A lightproof door will be fitted shortly,
and a 6500K (daylight) CompactFluoro. Here are some snapshot, hope you like
the idea...

My plan is to fit a 35W DayLight twisted CFL inside this cabinet, with the
only purpose of holding a bonsaļ mom. I have fitted a round reflector
wich came out of an old standing halogene, dimmed moodlight, this one
fitted nicly around that bulbfitting. I already have got that motherplant,
it will be set in there as soon as I finnish that door and the right
temperature. What's a guy to do with to much time on his hands...

I love that cabinet, very good use of a speaker.
We have used a 38w cfl bulb for vegging, and I have to say that while they are good in terms of the temperture they run at (which is low) they do tend to encourage stretching. I am not sure if it is due to the light being at the redder end of the spectrum ( I think bluer light will encourage shorter, more compact growth) or whether it is because they are not intense enough and the plants are reaching for the light. As long as you keep on top of trimming I am sure it will work well for you tho.
Good luck with the cabinet, hope it works for you!

I have got three SKUNK#1's inside that speaker right now, And they are doing
great, they are 22 days in veg, just got trained, and they will stay another 20
days inside this box untill flowering cycle inside my StealthFridge.
Last picture shows my SKUNK#1, wich I have got flowering at this moment. 18 days of 12/12, six days flowering. 20 days of veg, and topped once.

Keep up the good work, love and peace...

Ah, an interrested soul wonders by, hi Binary. It's been a few days
since I posted some new pictures, so here goes...
The first picture shows 1 of my babies, wich I am training to become a
bonsaļ-mom. I don't know anything about bonsaļ training, I just cut all
them large leaves. If all goes well, she will be providing me with 15, or
so, cuttings every three weeks.
My second picture shows a trained SKUNK#1, just to get those lower
branches at the same levell as the main growshoot. She'll be cut to sex
and then if it turns out to be a she, she'll be a mom too.
So good luck to you all and keep it up.

I always pointed my CFL straight down, like a normal bulb. I noticed that a lot of
that light went straight for the top of my cabine. Don't need any light up there, so
I made a temporary, cardboard reflector, coated with mylar of course. Similar to a
cooled HPS reflector, but at a 1/3 scale, and without cooling naturaly.
So how about that CFL hood reflector. Here it is, works verry well indeed. I will
have to coat those sides aswell, for more light efficiency. Hooked it to the top of
the cabinet, levelled it out, and BAMM...
After being away for about 2 days, she's doing verry fine. That hood reflector I
made, really spreads that light well, it's an even canopy, who needs ScrOG
anyway. Only 25W Daylight, but I'll ad some light real soon...

I had some spare time on my hands, so I took my girl with me for a haircut... well
not really a cut, more like a style. I've just trained my baby to a fine looking piece
of art. I used that paperclip training, but I did not use paperclips, nor did I stake
them in my soilmix. So I shouldn't call it paperclip training then, should I? I did the
following...
When I first trained the main stem, I used one piece of coated wire (came from a
network-cable, you know RJ45? LAN) as a supporting line, from the stem to the
edge of the pot. It was then when I came up with this idea, why not use this as an
anker for future training. So I have 4 of these lines, all going from the main stem
to the side of my pot (4 directions: north, south,...). Then I started training all the
fan leaves to these lines, real close to the surface. Then I spread my tips using
this same technique. One takes one piece of wire, one bends both sides into one
loop, one attaches one side to ones supportline and the other side to ones
growtip... When spread evenly, one could achieve one beautifull looking girl.

So with those new seeds in hand, and my baby ready to flower, I've changed a few things around in my place. My well trained Skunk#1 was send to the floweringroom together with that custom CFL hood of her. She'll be beter of there, I'll mis her, but she'll do fine. Plus, I'll get to visit her, she's only three rooms down the hall... snif.
If anyone want's to follow up on my baby, she'll be right in here...
http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?show...ndpost&p=285821Anyway, time for a new project. For now I'll post all LowRyder progress right in here. I've started germination of four LowRyder seeds. Soaked in warm water during several hours, and used genuin potting soil in turfmole. Face down, watered and set in Tupperware with transparent lid. Since I haven't got a lighting setup no more, I screwed a e27 socket to a plastic board, used the same kind of reflector like used before and screwed in a 20W CoolWhite. I've cut the cooling until seedling submerge...
Soon more news...

I just mounted an 85W Giant Spiral Compact Fluorescent inside my SpeakerBox. This will will sure contribute to my total yield.. 2700K of course. My LowRyders at 11 days are doing ok, not great do to some heatstress, I've got that settled now by boosting my fan to 12 Volts instead of 6. They are getting Cana Terra Vega at a reduced mix, about 1/8 of normal dose... Hope they turn out ok, I'll be needing 2 females and at least 1 male for seed production. Anyone know if could set them female LowRyders in my floweringroom at 12/12 without loosing yield? Anyhow, enjoy the pics...

Day 12
I've just repotted my LowRyder pupils into 10cm pots, I've noticed reduced growth but no roots had grown through the turfmole pots. I' guessed it might just be to small inside there so I put them in soil... 15.15.20 with 15% BoneMeal, I'll be feeding 1/4th part of normal Cana Terra Vega dose every time watering. I've mounted that 85W Giant Spiral Compact wich would be more then sufficient to veg my babies... I was wondering if anybody could tell me if I could set them in 12/12 as soon as they show sex? I'd like a girl and a boy mating so I'l need to put the other girls in my floweringroom...

They're autoflowering innit? So it doesn't matter what the lighting regime is, they will still flower. Whether it be under 12/12, 18/6, or 24/0

Do a bit of research on the strain that you're growing. I think you may find that you won't be able to take clones

Don't use 12/12 at all - people have had the best results from 18/6 - but this is mostly coming from Overgrow as it doesn't seem to have been a popular strain here.... I tried some but all male

And no clones at all I'm afraid.

No worries,
I now there autoflowering, and if possible I'll place them in my FloweringRoom because I do not have another growroom. I would like to grow some seeds with one male and one female, all other females need to be placed somewhere els. so 12/12 is my only option.
I also know you can't take clones cause LowRyder never has an vegetative growth period, they go from seedling into flowering. I've done my research don't worrie...
for me this is more of an experience grow, making seeds, again some germination experience, different soils, maybe start a bubbler someday, I've got one, still need to try it out. I need to find those nutes first, and a way to refresh water without opening my container...
Just wish me luck and follow up on my post...

So it took a while, but how about an update. As so many before me, growing a new strain, I kind of screwed up. Overwatering, overferting, heatstress, etc...
I've germinated 4 new seeds of LowRyder, this time I used Giffy's again. Went back to my favorite store and bought some new soil. Now there at day 5 since germination, and already they are doing better then before.

Looking good so far dude but you keep mentioning nutes, why?
You should'nt be feeding them at all yet, your compost will be enough to keep them going until you repot etc etc.........
Mine don't usually see feed till 12/12 time ....

Now as an update to my current projects.
The first picture shows my #2 Skunk#1 (Sensi Seeds), at 75 days (10 weeks) of flowering. I've noticed that this strain takes a long time to finish flowering, first time it took 12 weeks! This one will be ready somewhere next week, while strain guides point at a 5 to 6 weeks flowering period. Maybe transplanting them at the third week of flowering stresses them a bit, could feeding for too long expand this period? As I have said before, I've pollinated one of my budsites with LowRyder pollen, to create maybe a new strain based upon the small features of a lowryder with a high calix to leaf ratio.
next pictures shows my current LowRyder seed project. I've started them out under 91W compact fluorescent, but as soon as they started showing sex, I moved one girl to my fridge. I've lett one girl get pollinated and kept the other one for sensimilla, and used some pollen to pollinate my #2 Skunk#1. As soon as the pollinated LowRyder showed no more signs of new pistilles growing, she got a shower and was moved to the fridge as well. They have been set in a 12/12 lighting schedule, this might expand flowering time.
Last picture shows six new Skunk#1's, germinated in soil, no soaking, no wet towels, no nothing. Just planted them in a common pottingsoil, they all popped 48 hours later. So far my 100% germination stands hold... I've used six transparent pots, wich I've sealed with tape, giving me the benefit of being able to inspect the rootingsystem.
For now this is it, I'll keep you guys informed about my projects. Any doubts, suggestions, or questions are welcome.
