LGV

Hi everyone,
As I was so impressed by my own DIY skills I though I would put up some photos of my growroom to show even complete novices can put something together. (and that’s all I am!)
Background:
Lucky enough to move into a house with a semi-converted loft. Has a window, floorboards and some insulation. However I tried a grow and although it worked temp control was impossible. So I wanted a self contained room.
Room Size:
6tx4ftx6ft
Equipment:
Loads of 2x2 timber. £40 worth
Fibreboard £30 worth
Roof Insulation £4! (discounted)
Metal Wooden Brackets
Hinges
Lots of screws!
This was done over a couple of weekends.
Began like this:

Then the door went on (gaps still to be filled!) the insulation went in and the plastic went up.

Then the rest of the plastic and some much needed ventilation!

And heres the finished room!
Lights:
250w metal halide
Ventilation:
TD160 sucking air out. At the moment Im realying on a passive air intake from the window to supply cool air & CO2 but after xmas I want a rvk100 to suck more air out and use the TD160 as an intake.
Heating:
Amazingly the heat from the light is enough to keep the whole room warm, despite freezing temps outside, due to the huge amounts of insulation I used! Oops!
Grow System:
NFT205
Will be starting a Skunk#1 grow diary very soon and will post the link in here. Cant wait, hope it inspires some of you!

Yes it does and I like these threads, knowing I've to get off my backside and build a cupboard myself ASAP.
Nice one, look forward to reading your diary, fancy giving an NFT table ago sometime in the future and be interesting to see how the skunk#1 go in it, good luck.

Just a few things i noticed firstly what did you cut the fibreboard with a spoon(only kiddin) and your using a mh light as opposed to a hps are you using this just to veg then switching to hps or growing right through with mh as i thought they were for the vegging stage good luck .

apparently blue light gives better potency, and red light gives better yield.
mixing the 2 kicks arse from what i hear
[QUOTE]Just a few things i noticed firstly what did you cut the fibreboard with a spoon(only kiddin)
Haha, yes well I did say im very much a beginner! Partly due to lack of space and that damn fiberboard is a bitch to cut!
Keeping that metal halide in there all the way through. Its a nice all rounder and did ok on the last grow. Positive sign from the ever knowledgable Dophed that it will kick ass! Keeping the room nice and warm at the moment too. Will just need my oil radiator when I go into 12/12.
Must get my mylar up too, although probably be fine with just the white sheeting.
Still thanks for the comments guys. I must start my grow diary when I get round to it. Germination has been disappointing but I'll tell you more in the diary

looks nice and warm in there mate
you should be ok with black/white thats wot im using n its going fine
you may want to get some kind of circuit breaker up there just for peace of mind
coz it looks like you may have kiddies and there saftey is a must aswell
cant wait to see the results from another loft grower

Thanks campervanman.
Your right about a circuit breaker. My missus made sure I had one up there. Very reponsible lady! As for kids Im the only one! Nothing wrong with a 26yo owning a water pistol is there!!! Thanks for youe concern.
Any pictures of your loftgrow about cvm?

nice work mate - you'll have 'em lining up to get you to do theirs!
Nice one LGV,
You've got the added bonus of plenty of room should you like to expand your hobby too!
All the best with it,
Bu.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the comments on the growroom. Growroom seems to be working well despite the fluctuating temps outside.
I have some Afghani X NL X Big Bud seeds, kindly donated by from owt and nowt in some compost at the moment. The first 3 popped their heads out overnight so will be starting my grow diary soon.
Thinking ahead though I wanted to ask how big a bonsai mother room needs to be. Going to be a custom job from left over materials so may as well make it the perfect size! Would need enough room for roughly 2 or 3 mums only. This will be going inside my current grow room using light baffles to ventilate it with fluros for light.
Can anyone suggest a good size. I was thinking 50cm(W)x50cm(D) but wondered how high it needs to be.
Any suggestion on the height and the overall size would be most appreciated.
Cheers
Top Job Mate!

If you can control the temps up there, you have half the battle already won.

In terms of your veggy cupboard, depending on wether you'll be flowering from clones, or giving them a little bit of veg, you could proberbly get away with 50wx50dx50h - for a couple of mums, with room for clones aswell.

If you plan on giving the clones a little veg before bunging them in the flowering chamber, i'd go 100wx50dx100h. But whatever suits the space would be best.

Anyway, top job!
VRG
Great thanks VRG. May as well build it big enough for all situations, as Im lucky enough to have a whole loft to grow in!
Thanks the advice.

well im inspired now, been growing a few years now, worst of all im in the construction industry and my "grow room" is just a light and basically mylar draped over it (not quite, but you get the idea) so i must pull my finger out

and build something soon.
Glad I could offer some inspiration strangeplains. Its definately worthwhile as its really helped create a good environment for the plants which I hope will acheive some good yields!.
Check my grow diary for progress so far! And post some photos of it omce youve built it. Must have lots of leftover bits to build a room with at work!
