I cant decide which is better, My missus is buying me one for xmas and I dunno which one I want, I really want GTA SA and Burnout 3, but theyre available on both. The missus wants the dance mat thing, is that only available on PS? Not bothered too much about online capabilities as I got my pc for that but DVD is important, which is best for that and are they multi region? and which has the best multi player games? and which is best to be chipped? my mate can do an xbox and put a hard drive in it so I can store games, is this safe? I remember some chipped Playstations used to f*ck up after a year or so.

I've got both... and for DVD's the Xbox wins every time.
I dunno... I play on them both... so wouldn't really like to choose... but other than the PES series on the PS2... I think i'd go with the Xbox...the graphics are so much better imo.

xbox without a shadow of a trout, sony sucks lukewarm shit thru a straw. If you want a poo underpowered fashion accessory with half a handfull of OK games, millions of dire cash ins, and pretensions of multimedia, by all means get a greystation. If you want a multimedia console with some good platform specific titles get an xbox.


If you want a truly dedicated games machine with innovative, groundbreaking games made by the original and best home videogame designers get a gamecube

I've gotta say the xbox clearly pisses over the ps2, they've really improved the games that are coming out for the xbox now which is fantastic.
I personally think the ps2 is ok, only because san andreas is on it atm and thats one of the best games out atm, wait till it comes out on the xbox tho because it will piss all over the ps2 in terms of graphics and playability .
when the xbox first came out i really thought it was a piece of shite, the controllers were way to big, and they didnt have many rights to games, but now xbox is the best console ever imho and i'll continue to buy decent games for it. Im currently a bit mad for fiffa 2005 game atm ( I love it )

next year 12ways, Sony pay Rockstar so much to delay them for 'development' on the other platforms,
making it a semi exclusive to the PS2 boosting thier xmas sales and prolly spring we'll see ports on other platforms when sony has had its bumper xmas

my xbrick is back in its box still an the PS2 is only thier for san andreas!

i have many games for my gamecube BUT! i wouldnt uwn a PAL cube as the shops dont give Nintendo
any shop space compared to sony and M$ as they are paying them to sell thier products
hence the big gamecube games go unnoticed due to shops lack of egerness to shelf it nevermind make a fancy stall from them

Dont play anything too much, get far too addicted far too quickly. Which is preciscly why i havnt bought a console yet.
However if made to choose, it would have to be an xbox, if only for Halo

playstation owners should seriously have a look at why they are buying that console. Graphically, the gamecube and xbox are far superior. if multiplayer unbridled fun is what you seek, gamecube is the only way to go.( monkeyball, fzero, timesplitters , mariokart etc.) ps2 dosent even 4 player ability. gc dosent have dvd function which i must admit is a drawback but the quality titles that are available for the cube are simply unmatched by the other titles(metroid prime, zelda).no cash to advertise in europe as the states is their main niche, but the titles are out there in the shops regardless of how badly they are displayed or how much shop space they recieve..sorry im ranting a bit..gc...nintendo are a company dedicated solely to the creation of games console ingenuity, they dont make anything else unlike their competitors.rant rant rant etc..

Good to see UK420ers know their gaming. For pure gaming, offline multiplayer larks & platform exclusive loveliness the GC wins hands down, mario kart double dash, super smash bros melee, monkey ball 1&2, zelda, metroid prime (a shockingly underrated, unknown even, game, best single player fps game ever, more innovation & addition to the genre than any game since wolfenstein 3d with the possible exception of goldeneye, another nintendo only title). Nintendo produce the best in house titles of any company (hardware or publisher), cos Shigeru Miyamoto is the original (possibly only) genuine genius working in the industry, and they generally only give 3rd party licences to quality developers (unlike sony, who flog em to anyone), so with nintendo you know you're gonna get a small catalogue of absolute corkers - sony give you millions of movie cash ins, lame sequels to games that don't warrant them, generic driving/fighting/american sports games, blood soaked scandal magnets and once in a blue moon, a reasonable title that will probably be out (looking & playing much better) cross-platform in a few months.

But since twelveways is after dvd too, xbox is the way to go, the dvd playback is waybetter than the ps2, & don't forget halo2

I'm currently consoleless (flogged for booze when I was drinking, all of em ), but come Jan I'm gonna be scouring the friday ad for unwanted gifts, first a GC, then an xbox for halo2. PS2.... maybe if I can pick one up for under a tenner with games

my concern about the GC is that its doing so badly (dixons don't even sell them anymore) that it could go the way of the N64 and Dreamcast within a year

I have an xbox and love it. Halo 2 is fucking great, as are many of the other ones out for it

I had a PS2 - for about a week, then sold it on pronto. I don't think its technically any better than a dreamcast - it is a 6 year old console after all - overhyped, overmarketted, overpriced - not impressed with it one little bit

Xbox 2 and PS3 are meant to be out for next xmas

I reckon the gc will quietly survive, it sells (not huge, but it sells) in japan, the UK is fairly unimportant in sales terms. The gameboy always has been nintendo's financial foundation (and before that the original handheld, the game&watch), now n64 technology is being implemented in nintendo next gen handhelds. I still see a place for a dedicated pure game console, maybe not in the uk market, but definitely japan. The n64 went with the GC on the horizon, and the dc was different, sega didnt have the steady influx of cash that the gameboy brand (and pokemon) gives nintendo.

The sad demise of the dc (head & shoulders the best console of its era, looking to reaquaint myself with it too in the new year, if I can find one with powerstone, soul calibur & jet set radio) was due in part to sega putting all its eggs in one basket, but mostly cos for some reason all the sheeple bought an underpowered fashion accessory with shit games instead of the best machine on the market. Amazing what good marketing can achieve in a nation brainwashed by fad & fashion - note the success of the ps2 Thats why I hate sony, they'be brought NOTHING to videogaming except fashionability, I'd rather still be a geek if it meant that one of my passions wasnt drowning in a cesspool of mediocrity due almost entirely to sony befouling its waters and opening the floodgates

If I had to choose i'd go for an xbox myself.
