just thought i would post a pic of my sunflowers i planted from seed this year.
its the first time i have planted seeds outside so i am really chuffed.
its also a great way of getting rid of my old soil rather than binning it

Me and Elzzar have a bit of an informal competition over the Sunflowers every year.
This year........... strangely

........... Mine flowered at about 3 feet tall and his are still bloody growing....
I suspect the bugger swapped my seeds for dwarf Sunflowers. He laughs every time he sees them.

Last year - with the good summer - sunflowers were still just opening in Lancashire in October.
This year - if the weather warms and improves as we move to autumn - you stand a reasonable chance.
