Hello,
Just wondered if anyone has any more information, than I have been able to gather, on Big Sur holyweed. I have just won a cross on an auction and am very excited; I know the lineage of the mother in the cross, would like to know more about the pollen donor. Five hours on the net and ten emails and this is what i have discovered.

Danbo is the holder of the HolyWeed( aka TRIP) a wonderful high yielding plant1.5 lbs plus in full sun. I'm looking forward to 2 versions this year a Trip x KQ and Trip x G13Bw ncga |

Holyweed is one of the first Indica, sativa crossed from the 1960's, orginally from Big Sur, Ca, by a Monk by the name of Perry. It's a extreme producer for outdoors.-- danbo

Sounds like it probably was grown around the St. Francis Redwoods MOnastery. More likely, it was given that name when it got to LA. - uncle Ed CW |

Big Sur Holyweed is a strain that is sold by T.H.Seeds at the hemporium in Amsterdam. I spoke with Adam, the breeder of this strain while I was over here last summer. He raves about this strain; it is his favorite of all the strains he grows ( He is the one who contributed the bubblegum half of Sagamartha's Bubbleberry, the other half comming from DJ Shorts blueberry genetics). This plant grows along indica parameters, short stocky plant with a quick flowering but incorporates the soaring sativa high that many prefer. The bud that he gave me was one of the best I smoked while over there. It's definitely worth checking out! P.S. Marc Emery carries T.H.Seed but you can get them, as well as most of the strains he carries, at a much reduced price in their country of origin, Holland. - chimera |

| Sage x bigsurholy vs S.A.G.E. has been a point of discussion for us over at Weedbase and more recently overgrow. My personal opinion is that Adam crossed his s x bsh with a high yeilding indica to reduce the flowering time and increase the yeild (S.A.G.E.). The only thing indica about my grow was the size of the buds. Everything else favored the haze side. |
Any information gratefully received.

Mine show variation as they are F2's,but Danbo and RM have the later IBL version. There is some serious vigour left in the F2's whilst the Danbo IBL has lost most of it's vigour.

Just to add a bit more.

BSHW is a sativa from northern cali. The original crossing was done in the 70's. It has absolutely nothing to do with austrailan genetics. BSHW is a cross of a sativa known as Big Sur to an indica known as Holyweed. Big Surs roots lie mostly in a mexican sativa known as Purple Zacatecs(Sp?). BSHW is also known as Trip. Sage is actually a cross of BSHW x afghani, and not haze. It's a very high yielding out about 4 lbs outdoors in cali. sativa/indica cross which the high really favors the sativa side. This strain was kept alive for many years and bred by danbo. Hope this clears up any confusion.

Having 'tracked" this strain down.........
Big sur holyweed
Purple Zacatecas (Mexican) x Afgani.(or Hindu kush) but done in 1963.
look at my Avatar, that is the male BSHW.
All the females of the F2 were identical.I am down to 7 of them.
Queijo, we'll make the final choice once you get here.
I like #2 and #7
It's a no brainer,but not.the initial stone erases all before.Then it's a long TRIP down personal introspectiveness.......
some say that the Mexi was crossed with an african transkei.Possible due to the sat side of the high,
Hard core long high. Soulfull but working mental.
Bred by a monk
I have read that S.A.G.E has big sur somewhere along the genetic line but has anyone read this.....
Any comments?
Bu.
