hi all

as most of you probably know im in the last throws of flowering 5 fdm 50/50
what im wondering is all the buds look the same on each plant
but the leaves vary in size and shape and numbers from plant to plant
however none of them seem to have any blue in the slightest does this mean i dont have any blue widow in the mix

just trying to learn about different varieties etc

also when i started reading about growing i thought that sativas were more a trippy head high and that indicas was a couch lock high however since ive been reading about the correct time to harvest everyone seems to say it is the colour of the thrichs amber being couchlock milky being trippy head high- can some one please explain in layman terms which one it is

thanks

TT

morning Tokin..

As far as I understand... Sats are indeed generally considered more of a head high and indicas lean towards couch lock... (not exclusively tho)

but of course hybrids have complicated this ..!

any effects here will be down to the heritage of the strain etc etc

varying the harvest time will also effect the type of stone.. this is of course downto you and what you prefer...

so both are correct... I guess one just interacts with the other..!

I hope this makes sense as I am pretty caned! smoke.gif

hi mate

thats where i was confused i thought that it was exclusive

im hoping for some real couchlock stuff but i also want something i can smoke when i get up that doesnt stop me doing things - all the way through the grow ive had four 5ft plants and one about 2.5ft so i thought i was getting 1 couch lock and 4 of the other- then read the harvesting section- not a bad problem to have though

to be honest the most important thing to me is taste - i just love it when i smoke a joint and its that nice i go straight for the tray again ( pooh.gif bar just doesnt do it does it - although i used to love the taste of redseal when i was a kid any idea what var that is

thanks

TT mate, as to your plants not showing blue, the consensus here seems to be that colouration is brought on by cool temperatures, if your growroom is warm 24 hours a day then it won't happen. I've not seen anyone yet give a definitive answer though as to how cold they need to get, or for how long each day.
Of course, it could just be that the seeds you grew out didn't happen to include any BW, in which case, hey, try some more! wink.gif

alright TT

Being of the older generation to me 'red-seal' - was a term for 'afgan' black and usually meant you would get a bit of red plastic with it!

the only other ref I can recall is red as in red leb - (orig. from Panama!)

Both were general terms and were applied to all sorts of gear from everywhere!

Whatever - it was well superior to the majority of the crap available now.. pooh.gif

Good growing

alright peeps

good luck TT with the harvesting m8

with regards to the red seal, lazlo is spot on i think, the red seal was just the packaging like edam, and we used to get gold seal as well, same gear but in a gold wrapping.

they were both squidgy black resins, but one was slightly more expensive, can't remember which tho, or why, as they were the same. And we are going back 15 years now.

let me know TT if you need a hand making sure that there is no blue in the buds m8 wink.gif
Dohped
oops, just realise m8

this may help, i have got 3 fdm growing now, stella is the oldest she is dark green, very dark green. philomena she is 2 weeks behind stella, and the new lickle baby, Genevieve who is only on her second set of serated leaves.

Gen, the baby is very very purple all over, more purple on the leaves than green, and there is no way it's cold in there now.

i have purpling on the stems of the older plants due to the temps in april, but i am at a steady 80 degrees with lights on and 75 with lights off, although i have changed the light cycle yesterday so that lights off are now between noon and 6pm to hopefully stabilise any summer temps.

so it may just be that the 5 seeds you picked out were blueberry less m8 wink.gif

Dophed - why do I suddenly feel so old!!

I think gold seal was the 'better' gear - but it was a long time ago...things get hazy... spliff.gif

Boojum
<boojum gets misty eyed & nostalgic> Red seal & Gold seal, takes me back a bit (to the days before soapbar was even invented, when you just got good resin or shitty resin with little bits of celophane in, but no solvents). Anyone remember golfball stamp ? - used to get a lot of that in Chester. I even remember when pooh.gif started to make it's appearence - folks called it (or formabis like it) rocky, then when folks wised up to that, they started calling it slate, then soapbar. But that was before I'd ever seen a bud - you got 'rocky', gold & red seal & 'bush', that was it. I remember my first deal of skunk, I was like "what the fucks this..." (Then I had a spliff of it & I was like "Ah, real cannabis, that's what this!!!")

Shame I didn't know how cheap & easy this growing lark is back then (obviously, not to do properly, but to do well enough to get a harvest), I reckon I'd have saved myself enough cash for a flat of my own 34.gif Oh, well - the older I get, the more I know I don't know, at least I know about growing now.
lazlo2
oh Boojum - stop it!

got a lump in the throat now..! cry.gif

Just remembered one other...early 80's we used to get quality oil... £15 per gram as I recall....

for a time we got it already cut into rolling baccy... quality (and it was!)

you could sit on the top deck of a bus..roll a single skinner and get off totally caned ...and on-one was any the wiser... smoke.gif

Dangerous Beans
In the mid-late 90's when i 1st started smoking, all we ever got was soft black. Some came rapped in bits of red plastic like you get round chocolates, my mates called it redseal. Obviusly it would be pretty easy to buy a box of cadburys roses and save the wrappers tho. But this stuff was still much better than the soft black ive seen around in recent years. It was really soft, the stuff i see now is only soft if you warm it up in your hands.
BBB
The red plastic or seal was a trademark wrapping of one of the countries biggest smuggling operations, (unless you had red plastic inside the hash) cocaine heroin and all the other shit was also wrapped like this, the gold seal i havent a clue about, as for the lack of hash its not that they dont make it anymore cos they do its just that by the time it gets here its been turned into soap bar usually in either spain or britain, they still make mind blowing hash in nepal, morocco, afghanistan, the atlas mountains etc etc, i do remember the good old days when solid got you hammered, had some nepalese temple once off an old hippy friend of mine, i still long for that taste again!!! its a shame the soapbar merchants have spoilt it for us!! peace all, BBB
TOKIN TARQUIN
thanks for the info guys

so if the plant variety they used was known
for example the one you get nepelese temple from would you just run the full plant through bubble bags

also im sorry if this is daft Q
but if you brought a hash plant does that mean the buds are useless or nasty as a herb but it is recognised as having best tasting hash

thanks
TT
jointdoc
hmmmmmm we scored some red and gold seal from the dampkring in good ole amsterdam last year guitar.gif sure did look and smell like the black before all you could get was pooh.gif .........what about a bit of ROCKY.. wink.gif
