hello i am a new one and i like to have some expert advice. i did the tissue method and 9 of my 10 seeds open5 skunk#1 5 shiva santi but i did one mistake i diden't pout light for the first time over the plant so the start have a bit of long stems.
Dohped
May 2 2004, 07:35 AM
they start off with a bit of a stretch m8, then the stem will fill out.
have you got any airflowing on them?
if you are realy worried, make them a litle splint to keep them upright, and then when you repot, pot a little lower into the new pot.
I have had to do that with 1 of mine, she was falling over under the weight of her 2 first real leaves !!
good luck

Husq,
How far away are the lights? If they are too far away, the babies will stretch towards it. Also, as Dohped said, if you can get a little bit of air movement across them, in my limited experience, it will give you stronger stems, as they are trying to resist being moved by the breeze. A small pc fan would do for now.

my temp is 23-24c and humidity 50-55% is that ok?
G-Whizz!
May 2 2004, 12:42 PM
Yes m8
As far as I know, the IDEAL humidity range is 40-60%, but they will easily grow some 20% either side of that figure, but of course you are then opening yourself to encounter problems...
Temps, aim for 75F whatever that is in centigrade
Your plants are looking good so far, although the downside of growing from seed is that you don't know the sex of the plant in some strains until about nine weeks, I am hoping for you that they will be nice sexy ladies
As everyone has said, try and get a gentle breeze going over your seedlings, and when you come to repot, just plant them lower in the soil...

alright m8
regarding stretch, apparently hps (red light) makes plants stretch a fair bit and the straight energy saver bulbs are very red afaik, from checking them out on the web, and the ones i have are rated at 847 k.
there is a great post in the lighting section, check out penfold911 kelvin guide
penfold 911 kelvin guideaccording to that info, the 847 k would be about right.
also i have managed to get some cheapo energy savers from the £ shop which are 2700k printed on the ballast part, and they kick the arse off of my straight energy savers.
unluckily i only managed to get another 3 of them before they ran out

i have the tops of my plants 1 inch from the bulbs, and they love it.
hope it helps m8

alright m8
things are looking up
i tip i picked up from the boards, thank you to whoever gave me this tip.
when they are seedlings bend the stems once each day, just wobble the plants by holding the stem gently between your fingers and wiggle it from side to side.
i have absolutely no airflow other than the passive intake, until the box changes tomorrow, but i used the stem wobble method and stella's stem in about 6 mm thick @ 30 days old.
she is well 'ard
i will be getting a little oscillating fan at the weekend for my new growbox, so i can compare the new seedlings' stem when she grows up as she will have forced breeze on her while stella had none.

How long ago did you pot/repot them up in compost and depending on your potsize you may need to either repot again soon or add nutes husq.
the yellowing is fairly much like they are hungry

Yes it is what you call a pre-jungle. Are your different stains going to be dificulft to manage in the later stages when they flower /finish at diferent times or have you wourked on that to retain some control by having strains which run daily close together ?
Cheers husq
