Hi Peeps

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but out of 18 plants I'm growing from DP feminised seeds, how many do you reckon will actually turn out to be female?

I'm asking because I read somewhere that temerature, humidity, type of lighting and duration of lighting can all affect whether a feminised seed develops into a female or male plant...and going by what I read, I reckon I'm gonna end up with some males amongst my crop, but I was wondering what your experiences growing feminised seeds are in terms of a male/female percentage.

Also, while I'm here, can someone tell me whether I'm likely to have success taking clones from my crop which is five weeks old (two weeks in the propogator and three under the HPS lights)?

Oh yeah and one last one if you'd be so kind.....given the choice between flowering with 2 x 600w HPS lamps on a lightmover or 3 x stationary 600w HPS lamps, what would the majority here choose to use?

Any and all answers greatfully received, have a chilled Mayday weekend ppl smoke.gif

The threads I've seen by people using fem'd seeds fall pretty much evenly into two groups - those who got entirely females, and those who got 50/50 females and hermies. I've only seen a couple of people get any true males from them - in theory they shouldn't be possible from true feminised seeds, but if Jurassic Park has taught us anything, it's that nature tends to find a way. I'm sorry I can't offer first-hand experience on fem'd seeds.
A plant's gender is determined by its genes, not its environment. Environment can play a large part though in whether a plant goes hermie or not - light and heat stress often seem to be the cause.
I'd have thought that at five weeks you ought to be able to take cuttings successfully, if your plants are well established and happy.
Finally, if you want the most yield from your lights, I'd go with the three lamps, assuming 1) You have adequate ventilation to cope with the extra heat, and 2) electricity bills aren't a problem, but personally I'd find even one 600w overkill for my needs wink.gif I'd be surprised if a lightmover could increase the efficiency of the two bulbs by more than 50%.

It depends on strain I reckon, think thats what Oltimer said about the flo feminised when I had 2 female and 4 proper hermie that didn't develop male flowers till about week 5 or 6 of flowering,

I grew white widow fem and out of 10 9 came up and stayed female for the full course, think thats a more stable strain you know,

Just watch for them little banana's poking out of the lovely looking buds you're growing, oh the pain, like yesterday it is,

hope this helps a little

In theory they should all be female, but prone to turn hermephrodite! sad.gif

Don't let your temperature drop at night time, they need to be kept constantly warm, a slight cold shock could send the lot of 'em to bangkok!! lol.gif

Good Luck,

p.s Buy standard seeds in future! smile.gif
