This is at all you experienced janis special growers.. i got some seeds from uk420, 12/13 germed, 6 turned out female and i've had em in flower for a few weeks. just wondering what you guys think is the most reprenstative of janis out of the 6. i am after a strain that doesn't lean as much towards the blue widow side as i got bw seeds to do next time round. got 3 that are quite leggy and 3 that are quite small and bushy.. the pics go from leggiest to shortest..

Hey cheech

I noticed 2 main phenotypes from my Janis.
The tall leggy one i think takes the characteristics of the Blue Widow. Could well be wrong but this is what i like to think
All your plants look like the leggy type bar number 6.

thanks for the info kafka. maybe the pics are a bit decieving cos 1,2 and 3 are all a good 6" taller than 4,5 and 6. definatly wouldnt call 4 or 5 leggy. i think at the mo that 5 and 6 are looking the most desirable to grow in future as they are short and fat with long side braches, but obviously i wont fully find out which one to keep until harvest and

. cant wait.

Hiya cheech

Depends on what your comparison is.
The shorter phenotype plants i have are very very squat whilst the leggy one is similar to Skinny D's Janis and yours.
Out of all the Janis pics i have seen most seem to be the leggy phenotype.

We have just chopped Silver Pearl, and looking at your plants I would have said that the last couple were similar in pheno, to the silver pearls we grew!
Once 12/12 was induced there was absolutely no stretch at all. I mean none!
Plants look good fella.
All the best!

exactly the same has happened to the 2 shortest plants (5 and 6).
so could i be right in saying that the leggy ones lean towards the bw and short to sp

Aye you could be right.
That may be the only characteristic they commonly portray from separate parent plants types though.
Taste, yield, high and vigour could be a mix from both, one parent or another. Even between the two different phenotypes.
Only way to know is to grow 'em and test 'em

I have found the same for my shorter and longer Janis plants.
Although i lowered the light cycle by 30 mins each day for flowering until it was at 12/12; which is supposed to reduce stretch. Good to know though RD !

Managed to get a camera to show you the phenotypes i have. Not ideal pics but they will give you an idea.
This is the leggy Janis which is has been tied back.

Looking at the photo's they look the same. I could have got a better angle

Not my usual camera and all that...
The leggy plant would easily be 12" tall by now if i had not tied her down where as the shorter is only 6" tall.

cheers mate..
my janis are doing ok.. about 5 weeks into flower and boy are they hungry! think its because of the mycorrhizal fungi im using in the soil but they are lapping up the nutes.. at the mo im using 2.5ml grow, 3ml bloom amd 3 ml top max (bio-bizz)and thet are still looking hungry (slightly yellow leaves).. will post some pics soon.
the 3 leggier phenos (prob more bw) smell more blueberry than the shorter (silver pearl) ones too..
happy growing...
