- wondered if bunging an air stone into your watering can full of Biobizz would be a help or a hindrance? smoke.gif

Isn't it the case that the Biobizz range (well Allmix specifically) thrives on aerobic bacteria?
If so then this really can't harm I suppose, but it would not work for me as my water PH level rises dramatically when left to stand and de-chlorinate. I have to use my water straight from the tap, so would an air stone be any use if I can't leave it to stand?

Interesting info in that piece tho, I had to conduct a study in a biology course I took on the benefits of aerated water with regards to plant growth. Half filling a bottle and shaking vigorously (till the water was cloudy) produced the best results.

must admit, hadn't thought about ph, but it would seem logical to give them some dissolved air - I'm sure someone must have tried it! whistling.gif

If you want to keep mixed Biobizz nutrients for more than an hour or two, an air stone is a good idea.

EO what is the Ph of your water after you add Biobizz nutrients to it. Try standing some water over night, test it, then add the nutrients, let it stand for half an hr then test the ph again.

It always pays to aerate your fertiliser mix when making it up, the use of a fine rose helps to add dissolved oxygen as well.

I'm using air stones in my biobizz mix. I mix up the nutes every night and top up the tank so the tank never actually drys out. This hopefully should keep the good bacteria alive in the feed? Maybe someone has an opinion about this? It's like the fact that aquariums need to be airated constantly to keep good bacteria alive in the filter, after a short period with no airpump, they will die. I have applied this theory to my nute tank and the filter on my pump. My plants seem to be enjoying it.

I am growing at the moment with hydro methods, but with allmix and biobizz nutes. 10 minutes feed every 2 hours in the lights on period and a big hour or two top up if I think the soil is getting too dry. I am trying to keep the soil as uniformly moist as possible. It's an experiment to me big time but so far the results look good. cool.gif

I store tap water in a 25l black plastic water container with airstone in to
oxygenate / dechlorinate for a day or so prior to mixing with biobizz nutes.
works for me.

Very interested in setting up a low maintenence auto watering tech for allmix sog grow like yours NB, but concerned about keeping the soil permanantly wet with no drying out then soak cycle.

I tried this today.....

The water was 8.2 straight out of the tap. After standing for 24 hours the ph rose to 8.7 sad.gif I added 1ml grow, 2ml bloom and 2ml of top max, left it stand for 1/2 an hour and the ph went down to 6.9 so obviously leaving the water to stand is an option for me after all as the Biobizz brought the ph way down to acceptable levels.

Thanks for that OT

I was concerned about growing like this as well before I started but it's an experiment really. I'm trying not to keep the soil too wet, just moist throughout. Because the drippers feed quite slow the soil doesn't seem to get too saturated and it is easy to control the moisture levels within.

I'm using water right from the tap at the moment and was wondering if the chlorine in the water would kill good bacteria in my pump filter? Does anyone have an opinion on this?

I was toying with the idea of getting a bigger tank and mixing, a weeks worth say, of nutes and letting it stand with airstones keeping "alive" so to speak. Might be the worth experimenting. What do you reckon?

Interesting thread this... wink.gif

I'd be in to that! - it would remove one of the few niggles I have with organic growing - it would be nice to be able to go away for a few days, and leave 'em to it! I'm watching this with great interest! smoke.gif

Another problem i have to face is that as my sys is perpetual cropping ( stadium style using 3 square litre containers) I thus have plants in all stages of growth with myriad different nutrient requirements. I'm wondering if a specific ratio feed solution could be made up using biobizz nutes that would keep all plants healthy throughout their lifecycle ( rather than following the biobizz chart ) without compromising on yield too much.

Dunno whether you could do that successfully but then again I haven't tried it. It's awkward enough growing two different strains let alone doing that.

Vlad it's certainly possible cause I've done it before when I went on holiday for a week, although that was before I switched to biobizz....

Can't see any reason why not though... wink.gif

Rapping the airstone in pea netting keeps it better oxygenated.
