hi everyone
this is going to be my grow diary with pics of my growrooms the rooms should be finished tomorrow so i will post pics of them then but first i would like to post pics of my fdm 50/50 to see if there ok and if anyone has any advice to help me on my way
altogether i have ten plants i germed 6 in paper towels to see if i had it right and when they germed ( within 48hrs) i germed 4 more using same method i am using allmix and perlite 50/50 for my first six seeds and just allmix for the last four which also germed in 48hrs and have planted in 2 inch round pots i will be translanting to 4 inch square pots which are also twice the hieght than 2in when needed but not sure when
should i have just put in 4in to start with ?
any comments welcome

thanks guys
ive got the enviro about 2inch from them

im just laying cap matting and will work out complete floor space

as this is my first grow i have got a 400w hps just waiting for flowering period would it be beneficial to put mg light in flower room and use both lights for veggin until flowering period and then start new seeds with toglight in veg room ( that way i can veg second grow for upto 8 weeks why flower room is full with first batch) does this sound about right
thanks

I added my 125 blue enviro to my 250 hps the other day and they seem to be loving it, if I were you i'de get a red enviro too, and swap the blue for red when it's time to flower....

Nice one fella

looking good
I usualy transplant from two inc pots at about 10 days
TOKIN TARQUIN
Feb 28 2004, 12:52 PM
il have to save the red enviro until next grow
i only had a budget of £100 -£150 ive already spent around £300 and ive still got to buy nutes (grow and bloom)
i know this might sound like how long is a piece of string question but if i buy 1l bottles of grow and bloom will they last a full grow i have ten plants now and hope to have six for flowering if this helps answer the question i cant really afford the 5l bottles but will get them instead of ordering nutes every 5mins if they go really fast
any advice welcome
thanks
MDP
Feb 28 2004, 01:11 PM
1ltr bottle of grow/bloom will easily last you 2 grows m8, damn i spilt a quarter of grow on my carpet and i still have half a bottle left after a 3 plant grow

MY GROWROOM
VEG ROOM
just under 23inches TALL, 18inchesWIDE 28inches DEEP
with light i estimate 18 inches growing height
1 blue 125w mg light
passive intake from outside vent on gable end wall or from open door if temps to cold
outake from passive light baffled vent into flower room with ducting leading 6 inches to flower room extractor fan
the floor is lined with paddling pool lining and will be covered in cap matting as will the flower room
FLOWER ROOM
6 FOOT TALL, 2.5 WIDE, 2.O DEEP
with lights i estimate 5 foot growing height
400w HPS,
intake is from outside vent like the veg room and also has a light baffle intake from the room it is in i am hoping this will allow me to control temps by covering the outside vent if it becomes to cold in GR
for my growroom i have built a stud partition in a spare bedroom this will be covered in plaster board you will open the door to a walkin cupboard once you have closed the door to the cupboard you will pull off a panel to reveal flower room ( havent quite worked out how to do this yet ) this way you will have no way of knowing the flower room is there, only a laundry cupboard ( hopefully the pics will explain)
the veg room is above the walkin cupboard and will have a door on the front but will also have a removable wall between veg room and flowerroom to give me better access to veg room (which you will only be able to open from the flower room for security (i will post pics when i have made it) initially i was going to block the front off and just have access through flower room but realised i would struggle when flower room was full also i banged my bloody head on HPS

and didnt want to do it when it is red hot so i cant have complete stealth
please take note my D.I.Y skills are all in my head and somehow between my head and my hands something else usually happens so apolagies to all carpenters and builders out there for my neatness and shit building skills
hope you like it

i got the watering can from the big W (woolworths) £1.99
no measurements on it but i think it will hold about a litre
ideal size for seedlings it is only 9 inch tall so i dont soak leaves to much when watering
(saying that im new to this so i dont know if im meant to wet leaves or not but gathered that the light will burn them with water on them)
thanks

and i would like to say a big thankyou to everyone on this site
this is where ive got 90% of my ideas from especially to Vlad who has helped in so many ways from lighting and compost to fans that guy is amazing thanks m8

heres a pic from the front of the veg room the brown you can see on bottom left is where the intake from light baffle is
the mylar on that wall covers the light baffle (otherwise my enviro was shining outside through the gable wall vent - not a good idea for stealth)
TOKIN TARQUIN
Mar 1 2004, 02:07 AM
heres a pic of my light baffled out take from veg room to flower room the ducting you can see on far left is attached to fan in the attic this will be put flush with ceiling when i sort out the proper positioning of the fan
i have felt some suction from veg side of baffle but have not checked for effectiveness against the light entering flower room yet but i am confident with design thanks again UK420 and all you wonderful people

heres a pic of the light baffle from cupboard letting warm air in on left with silver stanley knife on it the flower room floor with paddling pool liner on it waiting for me to put in cap matting and in between the brown hardboard running across the picture and blue liner there is a 2 inch high gap 22inches wide letting cold air in from outside vent

hi guys
i repotted my babies into 4 inch pots last night
but 1 of them looks in bad shape does anyone know whats wrong
it first happened a couple of days ago but has spread to the other leaves i thought it was because there was water on leaves and light burnt them but it seems to be spreading
i have repotted incase the allmix i was using in 2 inch pots had used up its goodness instead of giving bio grow to the pots
any advice and comments please help

hi bud
I'm no expert when it comes to soil but that plant looks like its got bad nutrient burn. You mention using bio grow ? I dont think you need to be feeding them anything at this stage as all mix has everything they need for up to 3 weeks. I'm sure one of the experienced mud growers can help you
but so far so good bud, looks like you have things pretty much sorted

good luck with the grow

hi mate
ive not fed them anything yet
i germed in towel and put in 2 inch pots ive transferred to the 4inch instead of giving nutes so the new allmix will keep them going for 2week or so yet
ive just got the grow ready for then
Kafka
Mar 7 2004, 02:14 AM
I would agree mindhunter.
That to me looks like a bit of nutrient burn from the compost mix. TT how moist is your medium ? How many times have you watered them ?
Could be over watering but usually the leaves don't go that "crisp" looking and colour when it's over watering. Usually only the tips too.
Possible solution would be to flush the soil through with warm water or repot into a similar pot along with some perlite or clay pebbles.
I'm not an expert so take everything with a pinch of salt

thanks for replies guys
it was only last night i repotted but the allmix is already quite dry
i have germed ten plants altogether and put 6 with a 50/50 perlite mix and four without but i mixed the things up so im just wondering if it could have been one of the straight mixes and hence the nute burn the 4inch pots i have just used are straight allmix
I dont think ive overwatered ive read threads on here about overwatering and think if anything ive underwatered would this make it dry and crisp
do you think i should take affected leaves off or leave alone
im using FDM 50/50 mix seeds could this explain the soil maybe being to strong for 1 plant and not affecting the rest
thanks guys
Kafka
Mar 7 2004, 02:37 AM
Yep i would say the mix is a little hot for that seedling. Reason could be down to the seeds being FDM 50/50. Not intended as a dig at FDM in anyway ! There's a fair few varieties in there, some of which have grown with nutrient problems for me. Could be my shady growing technique though
Did you use stones or something to allow drainage at the bottom of your pots ?
- Kafka
TOKIN TARQUIN
Mar 7 2004, 02:53 AM
no mate
i thought perlite was enough for drainage
so didnt add anything else
i thought that nute burn just happened when feeding im gutted if ive got nute burn already its not the greatest of starts to my growing career
im surprised they have been alright for so long and then developed problems when compost is 2/3 weeks old i didnt think it would have any nutes left in the soil
more reading for me to do
thanks

hi guys
quick update on the plants
i watered them today and took a pic of the best looking one
the 1 with nute burn from the allmix has settled down and new growth seems to be unnaffected
the light had slipped but fortunately only 1 plant singed a little on edges of leaves but seems fine
so very happy with progress so far
not worked me watering out yet im just filling big watering can with water and watering in the bath so no idea how much each plant is getting but i am leaving them in the bath for half hour and checking there wet enough before putting them back and letting them go dry before watering again 3 - 4 days usually the plants seem fine but worried when i start adding nutes ( bio grow/ bloom)
ive put cap matting in growrooms but am scared of over watering
any ideas peeps?
i repotted to 4 inch last saturday so am not going to add any nutes to allmix for 14days from then does this sound ok?
also should i add some epsom salts now or wait till i feed them the nutes
any comments welcome
TOKIN TARQUIN
Mar 11 2004, 12:03 AM
heres a pic of them tucked up in there room after watering
also with fdm 50/50 it says the flowering time is roughly within a week with all the varieties in them does this mean they will all be ready to put in flower around the same time just asking because they all seem different ie.. small, large some with more leaves etc
are they that differnt in variety that some could double size of another or can this happen with a bag of the same seeds anyway just trying to learn
any help gratefully received

hi Tokin Tarquin
Dont worry this is completely normal, its just the plant roots filling out the new pot its a good sign it wont damage the roots .
remember the bigger the rootball the bigger the yeild .

hi guys ive just brought these from B&Q 3 for £2
are these alright for the flowering stage
i aim to put the plants in these when they have outgrown current pots or do i need another set in between
they are 5 litre tomato pots (9 inch--- 23cm)
i dont know what difference is between tom pots and flower pots
any ideas anyone
i can fit 7 in my space easy with room left over so i could get some bigger ones or smaller and fit more in
i searched everywhere for square pots but couldnt find any big ones so had to buy round ones instead
are they suitable
thanks
