OK im Just going too ask everyone to leave their most desired advice about feminized seeds, also if you have orderd them before, what was your success rate and where do you suggest them be boughten from?....

Bought feminised seeds for my first grow, Dutch passion SK#11. After paying twice the price of normal seeds you expect to get 100% success rate, 3 hermies out of 10 seeds has put me off femmed seeds for life. It only takes one hermie to ruin a crop and when you have feminised seeds you're expecting them all to be female so you may not notice male flowers until it's too late. A lot of people get good result but personlly I think why pay twice the price and still have to weed out the non-females (male or hermie). Save your money and buy some decent seeds, weed out the males and clone your best plant.

Good luck whatever you decide man smile.gif

Well if you have no room for clones that would be a reason.

Well if you have no room for clones that would be a reason.

If you by non-femmed seeds and get say 7 female and 3 males or femmed seeds and get 7 females and 3 hermies whats the difference apart from the price of the seeds. For a bit more gardening work you could save yourself some cash, for me gardening isn't really work anyway, nothing I like more than fiddling with me plants. Like I said though only my opinion from my experience with femmed seeds, other people have had great results.

Wasn't thinking outdoor guerilla so clones are probably not an option pinch.gif was just a little side thought anyway.

I can get 10x fem DPC PP for £50, thats £5 p/seed, that seed will probably (with care not to overstress) gift me with at least 4 o's, that's several hundred £'s worth from a £5 seed, when you look at it like that it makes fem seeds seem good value.
If i bought a reg pack of seeds i would be worrying like hell in case they all turn out males.
I thinks its a good idea to germinate 1/3 more than you can fit in your grow space, so if you have enough room for 10 plants you should germinate 13-14 seeds (£70). If 3 or 4 do turn out to be non-fems then you will still have 10 plants left. If they are all fems keep 10 and flog 3 to a mate, as long as you have your 10 filling the space thats all that matters.
But at the end of the day its down to what the individual prefers, nice topic.

it doesn't always depend on how many plants you have either, less plants will fill out the space if you veg them a little longer wink.gif

Hi,

So far in my (short) growing career I have germed 17 (non-femmed) seeds and got 4 females (2 from each grow). That's a 23.5% 'success' rate. I only have room to flower 3 plants anyway so it's not really been a problem, but I can see how people could get frustrated at spending a month or so nurturing their plants just to see their balls drop.

However, I personally think spending 3-4 months then having some turn hermie and ruin a crop would be worse for me. After reading a lot about growing I don't think I would fork out double the price for some seeds that have been tampered with in some way.

Hell, I wouldn't pay more than £30 for a packet of seeds anyway which means only Skunk #11 would fall into my budget, and if I want skunk it's not exactly difficult to obtain. The reason I grow my own is to get something different from what the dealers can supply.

I'm just waiting for the day when all my germed seeds come up as girls and I have to cull some to allow them room to flower. cry.gif

The other reason is small stealth grows..If you live in the country or a large house

and have most of a room or greenhouse to use for growing than there is no need

for femmed seeeds. If you live in a flat and use a cupboard and can only grow out

1,2 seeds at a time they are truley a blessing! Thank you DP!
