Thanks Cam and wee willy winky ,
I went to the xbox site and its out of warranty now , the only thing they will still fix is the three red lights ring of death or whatever its called .
I see you can pick up a hard drive for about £25 but thats second hand and if there is a problem with them dying after a while then I'm not sure if it's worth doing that .
In terms of storage space I have no idea how much you need for an average game , is a 256 MB memory card really small ?
I have no idea what digital-kaos is
Aye, really small. You'd soon fill it up. Any XBOX Live arcade games you want will take up more than that each.
Might be worth investigating this:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemus...tamigration.htmGet your data off your old hard drive and onto a working one. Having said that, the hard drive itself may not be the issue. You can only be sure of that if you connect another hard drive and it reads that ok. Perhaps borrow a friend's hard drive and see if it operates. If it does, your hard drive it faulty in some way. It may not be piossible to get anything off it, but it's worth a look. You can always take back the data migration kit if it doesn't work out for you, so you won't really spend the money on it (i'd take it back if it DOES work, myself - might as well get your money back)
if your friend's hard drive won't work, then the problem lies within the XBOX, or with the connections, in which case you'll need to have it repaired or buy yourself a bucket load of memory sticks.
however if you don't ever plan on getting any major downloaded content, you can easily store your profile info and game saves on a 256MB stick.
