hi all, a lot of this is new 2 me.. so here comes the silly question..when toppin up my res with just plain water wat does this mean? im 10 days in flower ph is between 5.9 and 6 should i be topping up wit 5.9~6 water..i was doing every second 2 third wit 5.5.. and that was messing up my ph.. the water is always left standing for a day or 2 b4 topping up also should this water be bubbling for a day or 2. then ph adjusted 2 wat? b4 i top up my res.. thanks every 1 in advance for havin a peep at this..

Hi ,

ok, its a good idea to bubble the water, and I used to leave mine for 48 hours before adding to the res. ( I now water by hand)

Add however much water to your res that you need give it a good stir.

then leave for a couple of hours and test ec and ph and correct if needed.

adding plain water mate, means just that I presume! Just plain water and no neutrients!

your ph should generally be betweee5.5 and 6.5 but 5.8 to 6.2 would be even better if you can keep it acurate.

I would start your food lvls at about 1.2 and gradually up them each week say to.....1.3 then 1.4 etc etc untill you get to about 2.0

You post was a little un clear so just shout if there is something else you want explaining mate

sorry i dont think i explained my self 2 well. wat i meant was my res needs topped up due 2 water evaperation..spellin is not the best.. i have it set at 5.9~6 wit an ec of 1.3.. so all i want 2 do some times is top up wit water so im i rite in sayin this water that im gonna use for topping up wit.. which has no nutes in should be the same ph as wats in my res. or does it not matter?once its been bubblin for a day or 2 just wack it in there then ph correct my res?thanks ss and rukus1 for ur input

What matters is that the final pH in your res. is between 5.5 - 6.3 or thereabouts, regardless as to whether you adjust the pH of your top-up water or adjust the pH of the res. after you've topped-it-up

As SS said - watch-out for those changes that can happen in the few hours after topping-up/changing the res.

yes same ph but you also need to add nutes

adding just ph adjusted water will dilute the nutrients left in the res and lower your overall EC

with a stable ph and ec in res, top up with ph and EC adjusted water in between weekly res changes. if susbstantial top up is needed more than two times during the week, may be look at getting a bigger res
