Hi.. I am having a battle with some kind of leaf fungus..Last grow all my compost plants got lsf.I had 3 compost plants each side of my hydro ones and all of them got lsf while the hydro grown plants, some of which where cuts from the same mum, where untouched by it.. Same this grow.. My room has been cleaned and disinfected with bleach, equipment cleaned etc and every time i put a compost plant in there it gets lsf within days..This last 2 weeks i have culled my warlock(now gone forever cry.gif ) and my uk cheese mothers.. Now my prize killer skunk monster,in compost, has it too..I have removed all effected leaves but i know it's just going to get ravaged..
I tried the essence by plant magic on all plants and it's back within days despite removing all effected leaves..
I just removed all this..

My next plan is too clean the room thoroughly(again) and use a systemic systhane fungus fighter..I really don't want to use this toxic shit unless absolutely vital tho..A couple of years ago i was plagued by thrips for a few grows and a systemic bug killer worked instantly and permanently..

Does anybody know why my plants growing in hydro(coco coir)are always untouched while the compost plants all around them are ravaged by fungus? They're all in the room together so surely spores are everywhere? Is it definitely lsf?I think my hydro plants must be super tough..
Any thoughts?

E2A ..Where the fuck has this fungal nightmare come from?I been growing 10 yrs and never got it til last year.I have even moved house and rebuilt my growroom from scratch and it's back already..Climate changes maybe..

Alright dude, where to start. I've had the same problem . Exactly the same. So after two grows I destroyed and disposed of over £500 worth of equipment, moved house waited 6 months bought ALL new equipment, setup a new room, bleched and cleaned everything, even used a product called trigene(google it) and now the same things happening again.the whole time I was also running a gt240 and had no problems! Even bought a new one of them to run along side me compost grow. It only affects me when I flower em for some reason, coz mums and clones I've had or have been begging are not affected. Also it doesn't seemto affect the plant in any sort of order, leaves are goin manky randomly on the plants ie not from top to bottom or visa versa! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

Why would u get rid of £500 quids worth of equipment.?
bigbadbudman
After losing 3 crops to this fungal thing, and spending time and money on sorting the problem and rectifying and removing all possible cause of the problem, the only thing I hadn't changed was my grow gear! So I thought it was time to start over! I love growing man, it's my WHOLE life, so the financial side had nothing to do with my decision, just wanna grow healthy non problematic plants.it's the only thing in my life that I've never cut corners on. It just seemed like my only option having tried EVERYTHING else!

Dude was it westlands compost by chance?

E2a:- reason i ask is i'm pretty sure westlands or maybe even b&q seedling snd cutting compost has been giving me fungal problems, it may be store bought composts in general.

Hi 181..no mate i been using BnQ compost for years on and off..Just wondering if the compost/bio-bizz lacks something the plants need to combat disease as the hydro/coco plants always seem fine..B'cuzz and plant magic fed coco plants are fine. The coco coir i been using is usually canna but the new grow i using plagron and it's great..Plagron is enriched with trichoderma, could this help?
I just nuked my KS plant with Bayer fungus fighter systhane and bleached the room etc again..Hope that sorts it..

Well mate i'd put my money on it being in the compost, mine and Lennon have been having the same problem with Westlands but as someone pointed out they all prob get it form the same place and i feel that how its stored is bound to cause problems and also i doubt its been properly sterilized.

E2a:- http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?show...t=0&start=0 heres the thread if you want a look.

Thanks for the link 181,interesting stuff and i shall go off and read it properly in a mo.. The thing i don't understand tho is this, some plants in my room have lsf. This means i have spores by the thousands unsure.gif blowing all around my room. Why aren't they infecting my hydro plants?
If the compost manufacturers are selling infected compost they need a good kicking yes.gif ..
I off for a peruse of above thread now.. Nice one mate.. thumbsup.gif

I'm sure I read in another thread about someone microwaving their compost to sterilise. But perhaps this would kill any micro-herd.

It's the compost!!!! Used to use canna pro plus!!!!

Just a note to say the bayern fungus fighter didn't work..LSF returned with a vengeance and the effected plant has been culled..

Dude it wont work within 3-4 days you need to give it time, your talking a couple weeks maybe to be honest as you need to keep treating and remove anything infected leaves till they stop appearing.

Hear what your saying mate but i don't want to risk infecting my cheese by leaving an infected plant in with them. All infected leaves had been removed and a few days later it had gotten real bad again.Shouldn't it stop more rapidly if systemic?Any way i got sick of pulling off leaves etc i want an easy life. Now all i got is 10 healthy plants so i can forget about it..Cheers mate cool.gif ..

hi Plotty Plants,

i wish i could offer you an answer to the problem of the compost plants struggling with LSF and other problems but i cannot. I can only sympathize with you as i am experiencing similar problems and loosing select plants because of it myself.

friends of mine who grow hydro have never seen LSF or the other problems i am experiencing these days, even people in the same area as me, and they cannot understand why i insist on compost grows with all the problems that seem to now be commonplace with my grows only this last year or two.

I have finally decided to stop the compost route and go coco.

its heart breaking when you see your plants destroyed before your eyes and theres nowt that can be done except sit and see which ones are the lucky or unlucky survivors. No more for me though, i am washing my hands of compost now.. theres to much time and commitment involved to leave it all down to wether you managed to get a good bag of compost or not..

best of luck mate...

Myclobutanil is a systemic fungicide, it translocates to all parts of the plant and in most cases also works as a curative, so if systhane and essence have both been none effective, then the problem is not or is very unlikely to be fungal. The same goes for where a hot box is used.
If plants side by side some in one medium are effected and in another are not effected the problem is not fungal. What the problem is I don’t have a clue.

I have seen fungal leaf infections in allmix, batmix, light mix, JAB with added JI, westlands MP with added JI, B&Q MP and several other composts, in every case it is controlled with one or two sprays of essence, Myclobutanil also has controlled it where I have seen it used, the problem with Myclobutanil is it lasts a long, long time in plant tissue.

I have lots of plants in westlands composts, both MP + JI and container + JI and not a sign of leaf fungal problems, OK the plant were sprayed once after rooting out and once 3 weeks into flower.

Why do I not have a problem?
Plotty Pants
That would make the most sense. As essence and systhane failed to control it and it didn't spread to other plants then most likely it was not a fungal infection. In retrospect i had probably just assumed it was lsf as i had it before..Most likely a deficiency as the coco grown plants are fine so the environment in my grow room is probably fine..I will have a good look at sick leaf pics and have a read and try to identify it..The plant had only ever had tap water and pot ups.
Thanks for your input Ot1,toke it easy mate cool.gif
Cheers savage, hope you get your grow sorted mate..I will just stick to coco coir now simply because it works for me.I always do well with it but fuck up compost growing somehow,i can't explain it, perhaps it's elemental or something biggrin.gif ..
