Hi all,

Been a few years since I was last round these parts, hence the new user name (my old alias was also far too similar to my real name). I stopped ,or merely took hiatus from, growing a couple of years ago due to moving house - there was no way I could grow in that place without waves of paranoia rushing over me that somebody would bust me. Luckily, thats all changed now and I'm in a position where I can do a nice little stealthy grow to keep myself in percy. There we have the two major criteria for the design and set up of this grow - it's got to be stealthy and it's got to be good for around 3 oz a month...
My previous experience is limited to growing with envirolites, but this time round i'm going to invest in a HPS for my flowering chamber - this is where I'm probably going to need a bit of help and advice (don't worry though I do understand the wonders of the search tool!), but heres the plan that is up for critique...

I want to do a perpetual harvest kind of thing - have a veg cab that will fit four plants, and a flowering cab that will fit eight. I've done this on the assumption of an 8 week flowering period - plants go in veg cab for four weeks, then moved to the flower cab (four plants will fill half of that) as new clones go into the veg cab. Then four weeks later everything is shifted along one, new clones started and the contents of the veg cab moved to the flowering cab where there will be eight plants. Four weeks later same thing happens, but four nice big budded plants come out of flower cab to be replaced by the now rooted and vegged clones. That is longwinded. I am stoned.

The theory works right?

Everything will be kept in a spare bedroom that also doubles as my music studio... Nobody ever goes in there apart from me and I'm nearly always in there. That way I can keep an eye on it, I'd figured. Everything will be disguised, in the time honoured tradition, as furniture. Lets start hacking apart stuff from Ikea shall we?!!

The veg cab that I built last weekend (as I had already germinated seeds so had to make a home for them fast!)

I took one set of drawers from Ikea (40x48x55cm) that were already integrated into the desk of my studio -

Took it out and dismantled it to the bare bones -

Measured up a sheet of wood and cut it so that it fit flush and tight with the sides of the cab where the drawer fronts were originally -

Covered it in Black and white then I attached the fronts of the drawers to it with no more nails -

PS. The metal things are for the magnetic hooks that will hold the door firmly shut

Cut a hole at the back of the cabinet for exhaust and installed a fan (it's a Nexus silent PC fan 120mm, and fuck me, it's silent. I mean I can't hear it at all!), installed an E40 fitting to hold the 125w envirolite thats will go in there, sealed all the joins with bathroom sealant, and then covered in black/white sheeting. At the bottom at the back you can see the ready made Ikea designed passive intake... works a treat... looking pretty good -

And hey presto its done... had to mess around with bits of black and white around the edges of the door to stop the final few light leaks but it is now super stealth. I put some ducting from the exhaust to baffle the last remaining light from there and will install so kind of baffle on the intake at some point. If I do say so myself it's pretty sweet... it's been there 5 days now and my girlfriend hasn't noticed it at all. If it passes the girlfriend test that's good enough for me!!

Don't worry, the plant is on a shoebox... theres about 13 inches of height from the top of the pots to the bulb, plenty for veg...Temps in there range from 25 - 28 C, which is perfect right? Oh and I currently have a one week old BB Blue Cheese, as well as a BB Chiesel, Greenhouses Big Bang and Greenhouses Lemon Skunk that have just sprouted tonight. Growing them in 6.5 litre pots from the off as they are all feminised seeds in Westy's compost.

Now all I need is a flowering room - need about twice the floor space and height as the veg cab and I have been eyeing up this cabinet from that magnificent Swedish place. Oh shit, don't want to post a link, the dimensions are as such... W 80cm x D 48cm x H 100cm. What I'm wondering is if this will be big enough for a 250 hps? Am planning on scrogging as well as a cooltube for the bulb. Is the height enough? I'm reading some conflicting things...

Cheers

Nice work on the cab....welcome back buddy

thanks man.... good to be back!

been eyeing up a few things for the flower drobe.... looking at a drawer unit from that swedish place measuring 80x48x100cm. It's £55 but worth it for the stealth... could I get a 250 HPS in that? Seen a 250 lowbay that i can convert for £50 with bulb, build some kind of air cooled reflector for it with some sheet aluminium and glass. Couple of Nexus 92mm computer fans (they're so quiet would love to use them instead of an inline) for extraction through a custom made carbon scrubber. 120mm Nexus case fan for intake. Will that keep the temps down? I know people are just gonna say get an inline, but i need it silent! That way i think i can build a 250 hps cab for under £150. Love to keep it cheap! Is that a viable idea? anyone?
The Black Sheep
Afternoon Fella and welcome back specool.gif , I just bought an old wooden 'tallboy' probably around 1.5m tall by 0.9ishm for £20 from an old second hand furniture store, have been eyeing them up in house clearance shops for a while saw this one and snapped it up. I have a budbox (maybe save for keeping males in bean runs) but want more stealth so went for a wardrode (worth a look to save on ikea prices). Never modded anything before and my woodwork skills are pants I'm all thumbs but a bit of hole cutting and taking out them holders for socks undies and handkerchiefs I think I can manage. Good luck with everything and some well thought beans you bought too so post pics.

hi black sheep.... good choice of ale!

yeah, could get em cheaper from a store like that, but all the rest of the furniture in my flat is modern - ikea or the like, so this way it'll blend in!
what kind of light have you got in that wardrobe of yours? ventilation?

will get back later with pictures.... the blue cheese is about 2 weeks old now, the other three have just popped their heads above ground last night, so not much to see there! can't wait til they're all big and budded!
