Full Version: Persistent Magnesium Deficiency?

Hi folks smile.gif

Wonder if anyone can shed any light on this?

Growing Mandala Satori, right in the middle of flower (35 days) and I'm struggling to keep on top of the mysterious yellowing leaf problem.

Early in their life they showed Mg def so I treated it with epsom salts and the 'greened up' lovely thumbsup.gif . I'm growing organic in compost and using OT1's Biobizz schedule as a guide. He recommends a one-off epsom dosing at 21 days, something about the plants getting hungry for it at this stage of flower development unsure.gif. My Satori were asking for that Mg almost a week earlier than that so I gave them it.

Although generally the plants seem healthy I'm struggling to chase off this 'deficient' look. sad.gif

I'm losing a few lower leaves to old age (got that N deficent look) and I also had to gently boost the 'grow' dosage as the plants seemed to need it (2ml grow 2ml bloom per litre water for one watering).

Currently they are on 1.5ml grow (throttling back now but they still seem a tad hungry) and 3ml bloom per litre water. They also get bio-silcon 0.5-1ml/litre and every 3-4 waterings they get some Vitax organic seaweed and/or a tablespoon of molasses per 15 litres.

I know it won't be long before the plants start reaching maturity and I expect to see yellowing etc. I'm just bothered that I've been chasing this pretty much for the last month now sad.gif

I'm sure I read somewhere that Satori are hungry for the ol' Mg but do I just keep dosing them with epsoms every once in a while or is that not recommend this late in flower?

Or..... could this be Iron deficiency? shock.gif

I am reluctant to keep adding to the feed regime as I'm terrified of causing lockout fear.gif maybe I already have caused a bit? fear.gif

All suggestions, opinions and advice gratefully received notworthy.gif

Chilli
I'd back off on the feed Mr Sparkle. I remember when I grew some Satori, Mandala Mike recommended little or no feed at all. Good luck.
Mr. Sparkle
Hi chilli, thanks for the advice mate. Thats me slightly confused now (doesnt take much wacko.gif) as I previously posted when they were sick in their youth and the consensus was they were hungry, so I fed them more and they got better unsure.gif

I should probably add that I'm growing in Plagron Lightmix so perhaps theres not enough in the compost alone to nourish them all the way through 12/12?

I could give it a go, maybe just water for the next couple of 'feeds'? g.gif

The other problem is that I'm paranoid about the flowers not growing as fast as I would like, which is kinda why I'm not 'sparing the horses' where feed is concerned doh.gif . It's my first grow in a couple of years and first time with this strain. I had put it down to them being a 10 weeker as opposed to 8 weekers that I had grown previously (i.e. maybe the 'phases' I'm expecting to see like stretch, and that final girth increase of the buds are just coming a couple weeks later than I'm used to unsure.gif )

Hey heyboy wink1.gif

yes mate I use that same dosage of Epsom a la OT1 but in veg I used the 1 level tablespoon per 5 litre dose thats pinned, and yes I dissolve it in hot water first.

I was actually thinking they were just very hungry for Mg until chilli mentioned Mandala Mike's recommendations but I was cautious about acting on it for fear of inducing lockout.

By nute burn are you referring to the crispy leaf edge? if so thats not new whistling.gif
