I was mixing away and my arm was getting tired when I started to think about safe devices for mixing the bubble (I'm still mixing).
I've tried power drills with paddles, too risky. A big giant egg beater, didn't work got jammed too easily. Even tried a camping type washing machine and filters. Then I remembered a party years ago where someone had a set of those (intimate) vibrating balls and they dropped them into a pint. Has anyone tried any innovative devices for stirring the bubble mix? - safety first.

I use a wooden spoon in my DeWalt hammer drill

works a treat.

Did you consider one of those ultrasonic toothbrushes (not just the electric ones)

I have used ultrasonic baths for cleaning engine injectors and they are great bits of kit. Only way I can think to introduce the ultrasonic technology into the bubble process is with the toothbrush

either a drill with mixer on it or a hand mixer for me.

Nope. Make BHO in a confined space, preferably near something that could cause a random spark. Now that's what I call risky.

Dropping a drill into a bucket of water will short your fuse out and kill everything on that circuit, maybe including grow lights. A pain in the ass perhaps, but not risky per se imo. Plus if you use a really long paint mixer attachment on the drill it's impossible to drop the drill into water (unless you're using a dustbin or something similarly huge and silly).

I use a camping washer. Does the job great, 40 quid.

Thought about the tooth brushes that's what got me thinking of the intimate devices.
Wooden spoon was best results for me too. Though, I'm not using the drill anymore since the seaweed up the walls and sparks incident.
A giant toothbrush or several regular tooth brushes. What about one of those concrete mold vibro things?
Necessity is the nother of invention, and I have a sore arm, and still a pound of trim to bubble.

I'm still working on the camping washer idea. Or an old twin tub.

what about one of those vibrating plates that they are selling for fitness freaks, like all the gyms have now, that would work awesome.

My sister has one of them and my god does that thing shake (its like a diy shop paint mixer with a big flat plate on the top) so I'd say it would more than shake the trichs off the trim

if using a corded drill to mix up big buckets of water was dangerous why arent plasterers dying in thier thousands ? lol.gif i dont know one that isnt permanantly stoned either. concrete poker would be good or a hefty vibrator lol.gif can give it to the missis for xmas when the hash is made!

IMO,the best bubble always comes from hand mixing as opposed to using an electric mixer or whatever.I mix standing up using a broomhandle - far less tiring than crouching down over the bucket with a wooden spoon.

Same here i only get decent bubble doing it by hand with a wooden spoon, used an electric mixer and got some green mush at the end.

Yep, I agree with this... Have done with drill/mixer and by hand..

the bubble made with a drill and mixer, always tends to be greener... for smooth, nice colour bubble, hand mixing is the way.. If the water is cold enough and you got plenty of ice.. that is what does the work for you anyway and super mixing is just overkill.

Tilt (in a thread about a year ago) reckons that because the trics are heavy at their tip that bit falls off first. Then the little stem part comes off bringing a wee bit of veg with it, and then a bit of veg comes off bringing any remaining trics with it. That makes sense to me.
