I must agree, I first thought of Doris Stokes and my next thought was fraud!

Hey GN, can you recommend a good supplier of coco? I've always been a bit worried about having bags of soil delivered to my door! A pm would be fine, thanks.

I can't add anything to the OP, I use JI No. 3 spliff.gif

If you order from Greens they package the bags up in cardboard boxes, so they just look like any other standard brown box (i.e. the UPS guy isn't there lumping 50l bags of Canna Coco out the back of his van and onto your doorstep for the whole road to see!!!). If you're going to order online I'd order a few bags because if you're paying the shipping charge you might as well get some extra if you've got the room for an extra bag or two.

I've tried 3 different cocos so far, Canna, B'Cuzz and Galuku....Galuku is my least favourite performance wise but is much lighter and more user friendly in packing, so you might find it easier to order it (lighter). Canna works brilliantly and just works. I'm using B'Cuzz at the moment because it has a low EC in it to begin with (about EC1 I think) and it looks and feels like high quality stuff (but I'm using B'Cuzz nutes). Can't go wrong with Canna - good stuff. Also the BioBizz stuff is meant to be okay too but I've not tried it. Most places, including Greens, should stock Canna Coco in the UK - it's pretty much the standard coco.

Doris Stokes or Plagron Batmix....you decide. bag.gif

Randalizer
I make a custom compost mix that is 2/3rds high end compost (very fresh from the garden store) and 1/3rd coco fibre. Plus a lot of amendmendts.

I use the coco as a substitute for perilite. I like the improved drainage it gives me over just plain compost. I also use coco chips as a mulch on top.

Just to add; What I do with my compost is border line crazy. Like others here I would recommend a good bag of compost to start with.
Cambium
As a beginner, I use compost. I couldn't recommend it enough. 3 pot sizes, bag of multi-purpose, two bottles of juice and for a first grow, you're away!

high spliff.gif ...I tried coco for my 1st gro man. What can i say, "it was an easy gro". Learned a lesson tho. Start the nutes off 1/4 strength and work up. And not what it says on the bottle pinch.gif rofl.gif

Check out my G13 gro below 4 refrence ifya like. peace.

Green Ninga you should try "Autococo" It's manufactured (or at least re-packaged and distributed) by the company which makes "Autopots" A little coarser than the Canna stuff and contains a little perlite, In side by side grows I'm seeing no noticable difference but a lot of people are reporting less fungus gnat activity etc. than the Canna.

50p a bag cheaper but best of all It's British!! I re-use mine after riddling the roots up to 3 times (alonside an enzyme)

thumbsup.gif Agreed

Probably the best inspirational guides I've seen are some of Owd's grow-diaries:
