Hi

Thought i'd start another thread about my temps this time with my first ever grow. Got 2 x 600w in 6m2 room

8" out, 6" in at 80% speed controlled via variac with overtemp thermostat set at 30.

Basically set at 30 fans only run at reduced speed at night and during day at full speed.

dDon't fancy air cooler or air con.

Are air cooled shades the answer ?

Or will plants be happy at this temp ??

Cheers

ho mate, its not recomended obviously, ive had temps messuring that durring summer months before, (thats hanging the thermostat at canopy height)
Is it consistently staying above 30oC ddurring lights on? Could it just be late mild few days weve had recently?

hi mate... i have a cooltube on a 400W in a tent and it works a treat for keeping the temps down...

Grow rooms need heat extraction . Try using 400 watt lights , a little bit slower but you are asking for trouble with no ventilation you will create too much humidity and may get rot problems and plant stress, worse for hydroponics
look at the grow threads and do not ignore the advice. ventilate, ventilate, ventilate. good luck

Its because your intake comes from the bathroom in the house, you would be better off getting your air from outside the house, if it gets too cold in there its easy to heat the grow room back up with a heater of some kind.

The reason i take it from there is it's the coldest room in the house, it is in the opposite corner from constant open window.

There is never any heat/humidity as i use on suite so air is perfect as can be.

I have one thermostat above the lights and one at same level but not in direct light ??

Hi takeiteazy,
I had a similar type of problem with temps a bit high. It was easy to cure, I re-arranged my desktop fans in my grow room and the airflow in the room changed and brought my temps down from 30.4 Degc to about 27 Degc at plant height. The temp controlled extraction fan even slowed down with this simple change.

Regards cain1.

PS Got ur name right this time.

i'd get a larger exhaust fan rather than a coolshade. use the 8" for intake and 10" for exhaust. slow them to 80% should be as good as your current fans at 100% with the same noise as your current fans at 80% also go for oversized ducting with adapters, as it reduces noise and increases airflow due to less resistance, are you already using acoustic ducting?
daviie
The fans you have are well capable and with a 50% plus margin. Cooling capacity depends only on air flow rate and temperature of incoming air. You therefore must have an intake temperature that's too high. Get more fresh outside air that will solve your problem.

Cheers davie. Problem i got is noise from intake even at 40% is VERY noticeable. Unless i have a larger intake than outake ??

Or add another intake at opposite side, but i am getting these temps with both fans at full speed ???
sir smoke allot
Iv got temps hitting 90f. Iv put ducting on either end of my carbon filter fan and used that as my in take from outside and this brought my temps down to 70f. My fan is only a 4" and its not that loud either try that out m8.

Something ain't right here...8 inch out 6 inch in and stuggling with 2 600's! Where does your extraction pipe leave the room?

I assume you're in the UK!

That's far beyond what I use ventilation wise and I use 1600w of power, I do intake from outside though.

Cool tubes will reduce your yield 20% so before your go the air cooled lighting I'd look at other ways to deal with the temps.

I bought acoustic fans and they make a hell of a difference but look up the silence a 6inch fan thread by leepy and you can get yours a lot quieter.

I found wrapping rockwool (The roof insulation not greowing medium) around my RVK made a hell of a difference.

Silencer will dampen the sounds of air outno end as well.
takeiteazy
Exhausting through chimney stack. Think its because the room is VERY well insulated with kingspan/roll insulation and wood.

Both fans are in diy foam acoustic box, i have swapped the 6" in for 8" and draw from eaves now, temps down to 28.2c with both fans full speed..

I will use the 6" on the opposite side at full and turn down the 8" as i now have positive pressure as the mylar is now stuck to walls but this is not a problem yet !!

I plan on swapping the 8" out for 12" when cashflow allows. Will get back when fitted the 6" as well.

Cheers

try doing this with the cooltube. take out the inside shade that comes with the cooltube and attatch a larger shade to the outside:Click to view attachment works a treat for me and eliminating the cooltubes only fault(poor light cover)

hope this helps spliff.gif
