very good for some situations i think if you are not sure if you need a 400 or a 600w you can kinda have both and like you say pretty good for reducing power when the plants are young,, i may even buy one myself.
Although all that said i dont actually know of anyone that has tried one out
e2a: so a 600w dimmable would be a 150 a 300 or a 600w, is there not one availible that could cut the power down to say 400w ?

A 600w becomes a 300w, a 450w and of course a 600w, great idea I reckon.

Why pay leccy for a 600 watter when you could be paying half for a few weeks? Knock it down to 75% during really hot weather.

I bet they're magnetic.
Sounds like a total waste of time to me, if it bothered me I'd get a 250w as an intermediate I doubt that thing does your bulbs any favours as is probably very inefficient compared to a 250w when used in 1/2 power mode.
As it is fluro->600wMH->1000wHPS seems to work fine

seem to be good and depending on which method of dropping the power they use you can get digi ones

As everyone should be aware, we have all kinds of growers in all kinds of grow ops. These ballasts may meet the needs of some, but not others.
This is why people should get a really good understanding of growing, what they want/are capable of, and what the equipment options out there are. This way one can make an informed purchase that closely suits their needs.
