Hello All,
I've been a long time lurker here but finally pulled my fingers out of my tin and have stated growing myself. I have chosen Bubblegummer to start out with because of the comments that have been made about the finished product!
The seeds were started in water just over 3 weeks ago, popped into root riots, and will be week 3 of veg tomorrow. I will hopefully get some pictures up tonight once I have charged the camera up.
I am vegging in a diy box that me and a friend made under 5 20w Tesco CFL's although there is room for another if need be. I am hoping to keep a mother and cuttings in this box. The main grow area has not been built yet, so there will be more on that later.
Out of the 5 seeds 4 germed quickly and these plants are looking very uniform, the 5th seed took a couple of days longer and is looking very much like the runt of the litter! In the first week they were in some very temporary accommodation with less than perfect lighting conditions, this has caused some stretch and a couple of leaves have slight burns on the tips due to touching the light!
The plan is to go into autopots, I want to have 8 plants in flower eventually but with 4 plants 4 ish weeks behind the others creating a slightly perpetual grow.
Best get back to work now,
digi-tal.

Woody,
One of the 4 bigger plants already has a nice fruity smell to it! Really looking forward to them getting bigger. Thanks for stopping by.
Amnesia,
The plan is for a 400/600w HPS although it has not been purchased yet. The area I am growing in is 120 x 80cm, there is going to be a shelf maybe 70cm up with the growing area above. This will leave space for the veg box and storing other things under.

Hello Matsi, thanks for the kind words, I really can't wait to try it! The plan was to have them ready for Christmas but that's never going to happen now! No point rushing!
BluePixie, it was looking at your diary that made me realise just how stretchy my girls are! It will be interesting to see how they both develop.
Checking back on my notes I was a bit wrong with the dates, If day one veg is from when they pop their heads out then it was week 2 veg yesterday (they popped out on the 12th). The runt popped out on the 15th.
Anyway, here is a quick phone pic:

They look good digi-tal, next time you pot-up just bury the main stalk a little mate.
Woody
ETA:- try to get a fan blowing over them too mate that'll strengthen and thicken them a little but don't go mad and burn them.

They are looking good for 2 weeks mate - they should really take off in a couple of days.....re the stretchiness are your CFL's warm white (2700K) or daylight (6400K)? Mine were vegged under daylight ecolights which seemed to keep them very stumpy.

Morning,
On Monday I re-potted the 4 at the back. I tried to bury then as much as I poss but I really need some deeper pots.
The Fan at the top is blowing against the door of the cupboard (which is left slightly ajar), this has been deflecting off towards the plants and has really helped thicken them up. The four at the back did have straws on but they have been removed as they can hold themselves up now.
The runt at the front really isn't doing as well as the others at all. At this point the others had quite established roots and were just about ready for re-potting but this one has a very poor root system. When I checked the roots yesterday the coco nearly fell to bits as there is nothing holding it together! This was also about the time the stem had thickened up enough to remove the straws, this one is far too weak!
I would say the CFL's are warm white (2700K), I checked but it doesn't say on the box. I will have to try and find some daylight ones next time.
Thanks,
digi-tal.

Quick question, I have been using the 'Formulex' feed that came with the Root Riot starter kit. When would be the best time to switch to proper nutes?

Usually m8 u don't need to feed them anything while there in the root riot blocks as they have there own nutrition inside but i only grow in soil so normally i wouldn't be feeding anything at all till around the second week of flower due to potting up into different size pots.
Not sure with autopots etc i never dipped my feet into that.

Djay,
Thanks for the advice, I didn't feed them while they were in the Root Riots, then I potted the Root riots using coco that had been soaked in a weak PH adjusted Formulex solution. I have been feeding them ever since up to about 1.2ec with a base of 0.65.
