Hi,

im gonna build a mum box out of a old set of drawers, i hoped my fluro tubes would fit with it stood up but the dont so gonna have to make some changes to it.

ive flipped it on its side and now need to get some doors on an keep it as light tight as best i can.

ive built a few boxes from scratch an always look shit, do the job but look very untidy, i want this to be my last build so would like it as neat as poss, so would like to know what im doing before i start drillin/cutting bits off it.
so can anyone give me any pointers on puttin doors on neatly and any good idea for me, plus if anyone has built one an has any pics or anything, any links, pics would be very much appreciated.

heres some pics what ive got so far.

thats what i used, but give it time to dry between coats, otherwise the paint cracks,
i also used some floor secure stuck to the floor/base inside with double sided tape.

& heres some pics of a cab i saved ages ago whistling.gif

that looks awsome JH, wish i had the funds for summet like that.

well ive not quite made the best of starts, ive filled up the holes inside and found some wood for the doors an got some hinges, not bad for 2 weeks work eh rofl.gif

right heres some pics of what ive got, the's the hinges which will need some extra wood on the doors and on the inside cos dint realise how the went on and im gonna have to cut some wood out for the hinges to fit flush if ya get me, dont really know wat im doing so if im going the wrong way about things just let me know.

and ive got some wood for the doors but as ya can see the only fit one way so im gonna put the doors on the cupboard stood up the correct way then just lay it down on its side when im using it.

Dan, hold up bud, i think you might be making things awkward for yourself !

instead of using doors, have you thought about keeping the drawer fronts & screwing them to a piece of wood, similar to this ?

i think it would be a lot easier & more discreet than you having to make new doors, all you would need is the drawer fronts obviously wink.gif
some wood to use as a backing for the drawers & create a seal inside the frame, some thin wood strapping 10 or 12mm thick,
3/4 inch panel pins, 1/2 wood screws, a roll of draught excluder, magnetic door contacts, screw in hooks & some cable glands.
