I've had a decent amount of trim for a couple of weeks now and have been putting it off, so I decided to get my ass in gear and get recycling when a mate came over with a couple of ounces of budrotten Cherry Assassin to do.

With good trim I like to tumble it first and then to make bubble or oil out of the rest. I find if you tumble it for a short period of time you get high quality kief and then leave the rest for bubbling or oil. For the budrot stuff (or PM) I prefer to BHO or QWISO because it'll kill the spores.

1) DRY SIFT

I did the sifting yesterday in an okief tumbler with a 120lpi drum (the higher quality one). Did two runs on each batch, doing 15m each run. Will take photos afterwards, got my hands full with the other extractions atm.

2) OIL (QWISO)

I took the budrotten Cherry Assassin and manually crumbled it up, to get more surface area but to keep it chunky. I find grinding it too find makes extraction slow and a nightmare. Then poured in 99% ISO, gave it a quick swirl and then first stage filtered through a 50u bucket filter. Then filtered a second time through a coffee filter. Had to change filters a few times mid extraction, even with the 50u first stage. Then outside, into a bain marie and topped up with boiling water to keep it evapping. The downside is that you get the occasional bit of fly or debris in it, but it means I can continue to smoke without blowing myself up, which is nice.

3) BUBBLE

Need to go get the ice. As soon as the oil has finished evapping I'll go grab the ice and start the bubble. The trim (not budrot) is good and has been in the freezer a couple of hours. The plan is to put it into a portable washing machine, wash for 10-15mins, filter through bubblebags. Again, more photos to follow.

Nice one, where do you get IPA from?

happy days on their way - cant beat a nice batch of solids - will you mix the bubble with the Qwiso to end up with a smoother blaze?

DRY SIFT

Right, here's the photos - will try and do some macros but you should be able to see the diffs between the 1st and 2nd runs (1o = 1st run, 2o = 2nd run in the photos). The 1st run stuff is full melt, the 2nd isn't and partially melts and burns. 3rd definitely doesn't, I just did it because I want to try to further purify dry sift (e.g. mixing it into a pint of water and bubblebag filtering it to get rid of the additional contaminants).

Right, back to feeding the bain marie fresh boiling water outside to get the QWISO finished, and I've got to water the plants...

OIL (QWISO):

First batch is done, second lot is outside (same run in two halves). I purged with a torch by lightly running it over the surface to burn off any additional ISO.

The oil has a really dark reddish tinge to it - the last time my oil came out red it was the most insane stuff I have ever smoked.....off the scale strong. If this is anything close then this will be a massive massive result.

Dutchie
Heya GN

Nice work mate, some fine lookin dry sift! Especially compared to my one and only attempt, pistils and everything in the hash so there was biggrin.gif

Was hopin to see some pics of a final product, as in when you press the sift, or if you mix dry sift with the bho to make jelly hash?

What happened?! I demand more pics, the hash thread has seriously been lacking some hash pics tbh and was glad to see this thread.

Maybe you haven't posted some pics for obvious reasons... you just made some fine hash lol.gif

take it handy mate
GreenNinja
hehehehehe...cheers Dutchie.

I'm not a hash smoker, or rather I prefer smoking green (lighter joints...I find hash j's really kill me now) so I don't really press up any of it. I've messed around pressing some 2nd run stuff together, but it's too green and not high enough quality for me (i.e. if it doesn't bubble, it's shit).

I'm loving the dry sift. Pile it up in the bong, light it up, blast off into space. I find it turns a normally heavy indica buzz into a much more cerebral buzz, just from the sift (which is weird). So, no fancy stuff made out of the dry sift because I'm smoking it straight smile.gif The SSSDH was so pure it was incredible - it almost flash burned in the bowl, but full melt. Great taste and absolutely stellar buzz. Would absolutely definitely whitey most casual smokers but is an absolute dream for those of us with high tolerances wink1.gif

The disappointment has been the bubble. It partially bubbles but I expected it to be cleaner. I'm more likely to do something with the bubble, I just don't know what yet.

The oil isn't as great as previous runs. I put it down to not being my source plant, and also probably because of the bud rot it meant that bits were chopped early. I'll probably spice it up with some dry sift, or better yet probably add it to glycerine to make tincture.

I'll post some photos when I do some thing....until then I'm caning the sift smile.gif

cheers again
