Hi guys,

ATM I have a 180w tube heater next to my passive intake, temps on my min max temp meter read (at lights off) 17oc on the in part (so the themometer on the actual display) and 15oc on the node which is resting on the floor on on of the pots.

I'm considering insulating with that thermal foil stuff, however I've been thinking is it actually insulation I should be worrying about as the air gets exchanged rapidly in the tent anyway and maybe I need to update the heating instead?

Which do you think would be the best option?

Buy a 120w heater for the other side of the tent and put it on a timer (maybe 15 min on 15 min off, I'd like to link it to the tube heater and thermostat but not sure how to do it)?

Buy the Thermal foil?

Or an option C?

Thanks guys, I've got a lovely plant flowering atm and don't want to fuck things up.

I use a 2000w fan heater set at half setting using 1000w. my lowest temp is 19oC and highest 28oC my min max meter is hanging at the same height as the plants.

the other suggestions you mentioned would work but would be more time consuming and expensive than going out and buying a £20 fan heater with a thermostat on the heater spliff.gif spliff.gif they might not bring the temp up enough either so I would go with buying a new heater

I do exactly the same, £12 at Argos whistling.gif

e2a: It has a built in thermostat that turns the heater off at about 24c.

Hi mate, I don't like the idea of using fan heaters or oil filled rads, becuase of the fan heaters safety factor (and expense of running) and the oil filled rad taking up so much space.

I think I'm going with another heater, would love to know how to link a new one up to my existing one (and the thermostat)?

safety reasons????? Just make sure the back of it is not covered and its got a plug with the correct fuse in it.

I am an electrician and all the diffrent types of heaters could fail and go on fire but thats just life. just keep the back end covered I think you are thinkng to much into things that could never happen or just as easily happen with the equipment you are suggesting you use.

basically with out destoying the heater you have and making it even more unsafe you cant link two heaters up.

Hi, thanks for the response, this sounds like it might do the job?

I wouldnt bother trying to buy packs that will link 2 heaters up. 1st off you need to know exactly how to wire it up and second you could have to open the casing up which could prevent you taking it back to the shop for a new one if it goes faulty.

I didnt think that Joe the public could buy such kits, in my opion it is irresponsible of the company as Joe Public isnt qualified to fit it properly. Those kits are meant to be sold to engineers not the public. For safety reason's

At the end of the day it seems you had already decided what you where going to do before asking advice.

I mean you could buy the 2nd heater and connecting kit and still not bring it up to temp. I would go with tried and tested methods most people use fan heaters as they do the job, But if you think your best doing what you think then why ask? lol.gif

I'm gonna go for a mini oil filled rad and put it on its low setting, appreciate the input!

you will find that the half of the room that has the oil filled rad will be hotter than the half which doesnt have it. A fan heater gives a more even spread of heat. As it heats the air up as it passes through it. I also have my heater hanging from chain so that it is in the middle of the room height wise. the fan heater is rarely on because it is that good and effective when it is on that it keeps the room warm for quite a long period of time. So expense isnt an issue.

But sometimes you got to live and learn so the decission as they say is your lol.gif

I read a dairy a while ago and the guy was having problems with temps. He got an electric blanket and put his plants on top of it this kept his roots warm which in turn helped the plants through the cold untill he could get a heater. the guy ended out finding that the under soil heating worked that well that he bought an undersiol heating system and hasnt looked back. Dont know how much use this info is to you but I thot it might help

Hi mate,

There's a Tube heater at the other side of the tent, so the heat distribution shouldnt be too bad really.

Now got 480w of heat keeping things toasty at 22oc lights off smile.gif
