Hello Gang

Ok, iv started using PK13 too early, I started halfway through my second week of flowering!! I have just been told I should have only used it in week 4 for 6 days!!???

I am just using 11 litre pots with canna coco, a+b plus boost and just feeding 2 litres every other day, no systems, just the simple method, ph is spot on and im at 1.65 on my pen.

What should I do? My 3rd week of flowering started today?

Should I stop using it and use it again next week for 6 days or so??? Or should I just carry on and stop at the end of this week??

Please can somebody with more experience give me some options and help me, Cheers people.

Thanks man.

Just been on the phone to a lad i know, he reckons just to carry on this week(22nd day today), stop on Friday and then use again in week 5 for 2 feeds then stop all together.

What you reckon to this advice folks?

Thanks in advance

Iv also heard Canna have changed their advice to use it all the way through the flowering period, not sure how true this is though.

I think the rule of thumb seems to be - use it week 3 and again in week 5 - hopefully more advice comes though soon.

Cheers

Yeahman, your correct. Im on day 22 today today and first used the pk13 last wed, friday and yesterday.

When you say crack on - do you mean carry on using all the way through or stop now and use once more during week 5.

Sorry to sound daft, just seams to be lots of dfifferent advice

You've heard? I would want proof rather then hearsay when putting expensive nutes into my plants too early..

My bottle of PK 13/14 says week 4

yea i mean carry on with it if youve started smile.gif

ive always took it as if youve actually got some bud formation started thats the time to start with it (at low doses initially) slowly upping the dosage till you get to full strength, then when i start my flush two weeks before i chop i stop using it (and everything else).

When i first used it last week I defo had fruit formation. You heard of the method where folk use it in week 3 once then again once in week 5?

In weeks 2/3, the plants are still mainly using N due to their stretching - this is why I think that it makes a lot more sense to use PK boosters in weeks 4 onwards when they are packing weight onto the buds rather than any earlier. wink1.gif

Got the Canna growguide sheet here, also look at www.canna.com and www.growguide.info
from there I worked out it would be either the 2nd or 3rd week and your only meant to use it for a week

Thanks scribble. So what would you do if you used it a bit early? Also do you use it all the way through or just once, theres lots of conflicting advice.
Thanks man

It says on there website to use it when its at Generative stage - Small fruits develop this says to me week 2-3 I also remember reading that you give them it at that stage to force it into budding more as there isnt so much N and loads of PK which gives denser tighter buds.

Bruce you siad you already have been using PK13/14 how are your plants looking? did you notice any differance in using it?

Your right about what cannas growguide says - reading that makes me feel a little better guitar.gif

This is the first time iv used coco and my first grow in about 5 years russian.gif , I was saying i think iv used it too early as all the info says use it from week 4, i put it in a day after the start of week 3!! Its had 3 feeds with the pk13 in at 1 ml per litre (30 litre tank), im at day 22 today.

Iv not seen a massive difference as these ladies have been growing well for the past 5 weeks, it seems to be budding up nicely but again its only early. Im thinking of feeding em one more time with pk13 in then leaving it - so basically they had 4 feeds over a week with pk13 in - from what canna growguide says that should be ok - I HOPE!!

Like I say, im no expert, done a few small grows in hydro tanks but this was ages ago. This whole coco business is totally new to me. things seem to have gone well though - i just hope i havent fooked it up by puttin it in "early"

What do you think Devil?

Thanks
nu jerzey devil
well from what I was taught, the plants only take up nutrients when they need to, so if we use it early it just sits there in the medium untill the plant needs it and if you had used it at the wrong time and over fed it the plants would show signs of over feeding. So I dont think there would be any probs to be honest.

But I have read somewhere ( Ithink soft secrets growing for dummies guide) that you give them pk 13/14 at the first sign of small fruit development which to me with the plants I am growing is weeks 2 or 3 giving them it this point is meant to help the chemical change in the plant so you get denser tighter buds. so I am just going to crack on and use it. as you have found no negative signs from using it I cant see it being a problem. I think you have used it at the correct time.

do you use the canna boost as I have found that it is great stuff really brings on the flowering stage :-)

but would greatly apperciate it if someone who uses canna nutes would keep us right

lol.gif, iv just read em, found them through google unsure.gif

It does seem the general rule of theum is to use it in week four or five, too late now.

So you reckon itl do no damage that i started early and they wont overdose if i carry on through week 4?
