hi everyone is there any difference in having my fan and cf pointing upwards or is horizontol the best way.im in a place where positionig upwards would be far easier
podgy
I put mine up based on the idea that it would be where the most hot air in my room would be collecting... the opposite end from my air intake and above my lights... Either way, I say put it in it'll serve you well to have one ph34r.gif

hello again i didnt mean the location of the fan i meant do i have to install it so the filter is pointing upwards or horizontal is there any best way to have it pointing to do its job
StonedSkunk
Fan and filter to go horizontal or if you dont have the space then upright is ok just remeber about the vibration from the fan if putting the filter in the vertical position.

i don't think it matters too much, but horizontally hanging from the ceiling probably works most efficently

It all depends on where your extraction is going mate. What I mean is if your extraction is going out the top then vertical is better with the fan sitting on top of the tent bit of ducting pushing the air straight through the ceiling into the loft. This is how I want my extraction setup but cant unfortunetly due to the ball and chain guitar.gif

The reason for this is simple - the less bends the better so if you have everything vertical into the loft it produces maximum efficency.

But if your ducting is going out the side of the tent instead of the top, then a horizontal setup is better.

Theres barely any vibration mate, ive got a friend with a vertical setup and its alot more efficent, problem is hanging the carbon filter vertically!

Does it matter it the fan is 'pulling' or 'pushing' the air thru the CF....? Which one is the optimum?
timmy1two1shoes
Ive tried both and I found carbon filter - fan most effect, but the different times were done with different strains so its not entirely accurate. I think most peeps go carbon filter - fan, it allows more space in the tent cause i can put the fan outside and theres less bends guitar.gif

Anyone else care to input their combo?? guitar.gif

Pulling or pushing has no effect on flow resistance, its the same. Difficult on small grows, but you should try and keep at least five diameters distance straight before bends or changes in direction, for both fan and CF. (That's before and after the fan or CF).
