Hi I had been using the mollasses in the starter pack by plant magic it wasn't putting up much of a froth after 12 hours.
I then changed to black treacle in my last brew and whow this stuff is way more active for the essence than the sugered mollasses. After 12 hours there was a huge tower of foam over the jug.
The essence seems to love the liquid version of mollasses rather than the suger type version. all my brews sit at 32 degrees for the 12 hours, honestly try the black treacle or liquid mollasses and see the difference for yourselves. I read somewhere about the suger type mollasses that there is not as much in it. I'll find that, and link it to this post later.

I use liquid molasses, froths like fk after about 2 mins of adding the essence....keeps frothing for about 8 hours....

my molases in the pack has gone hard(got it early this year) so will substiture it with liquid molases..whats the best one the realy thick black stuff in a tin? used for cakes & stuff?

That sticky stuff in the red tin called black treacle you should get it in any supermarket.

I use a horse feed molasses, about 3 quid for a litre...

Heya frothing is not a direct indication of whats going on , the molasses that comes with Pm products is probably unsulfured , sugar if refined differently , Holland and barret do a unsulfured , unsulfured Organic , if you ask for the later , good luck .

shit , thats put a spanner in the works! I been out to the supermarket and picked up some ,'black treackle' syrup stuff ready to try out tomorrow.
If others have had success using this form, then it might be worth a go, what are peoles thoughts?
