sorry, not sure whats going on there.... just thought i'd say tho, when you attatch the wires to the choc blocks try not to leave so much exposed copper wire. the two at the bottom of the picture look like they could easily cause a short circuit. bad electrics cause equipment faliures and fires. also loose dangling unattatched wires cause problems. don't want to sound like the H & S police but if you go out and your fan fucks up you can get all sorts of problems.

If you look at the casing where the choc blocks were housed you should see L N and E. E goes to E but I think you will find that N (blue) will go to brown and L (brown) will go to Blue. I have 2 150mm fans and when I wired them up the brown wire was opposite N and the blue wire opposite L

Its all back to front to me but unless they wired them up wrong in the factory I think that is the way to do it anyway it is the way I wired them up and they work.

If in doubt get a qualified sparky to wire them up

it's a capacitor it's used to decouple the supply I cant for the life of me rememeber why you need to do it (it's to late on a sunday for that)

Why did you disconnect the other two wires? I wired mine up at the weekend and all I had to do was wire up to the other side of the blocks.

If you look at your picture you've gone and disconnected the two wires that connect to the white tube thing and you've got a spare black wire there as well.

You obviously need those bits to be wired correctly otherwise they wouldn't be there. rofl.gif

cheers for all the replies but im still clueless lol.gif

am i supposed to twist the two brown wires from fan and capacitor, put this into one choc block and on the other side the brown wire from the mains. then same for blue???

i looked at the pic on the housing which didnt help at all lol.gif

Just rewire up the bits you disconnected as they were when you got the fan, and then we'll see what needs doing. wink1.gif

Rewire the capacitor back up , as it is needed for starting torque

Once you,ve rewired the capacitor the way it was when you bought it,do wot turnip says,he,s bang on. I wired my 200mm up yesterday an as i said turnips on the ball, brown on your power cord goes to blue on the fan and blu goes to brown, leaving the 4th plug(far right) on the block empty. The earth (yellow and green) goes in the first plug (far left)on the block. Do this and ya fan will work fine ,good luck.
