Full Version: Nutrient Selection - Bigger Yield

I currently use:

Vitalink Max Grow and Vitalink Max Bloom - Base Nutrients (both 2 part)
Canna Boost Accelerator - Advanced Nutrient
Canna PK 13/14 - Advanced Nutrient

Is there any better products out there that will give me more yield?

With the advanced nutrients (the canna products) are they really worth it?

The PK 13/14 seems to be doing a good job, but the Canna Boost Accelerator is very expensive and im not sure if its contributing that much

Not 100% sure on weight of the last crop, but it was between 7-8 ounces dry weight of good quality stuff, off 2 plants, grown in a NFT 205 Grotank, changed to 12/12 after 4 weeks of veg from seed, under a 250HPS, grown in a kind of scrog

Is this quite a good result? and could i see much more improvement on this by changing the nutrient solution?

All your opinions and advice greatly welcome. Cheers guys

thats between 0.8 and 0.9 grams per watt - and thats not bad cool.gif

i doubt the boost really does that much, however, i don't use it so can't really comment...

you would need to measure results using it and not using it to see if its value or not

its very expensive, and i think the general consensus is to not bother

keep up the good work!

For more yield:

- try tailoring the feed schedule further (increase EC, frequency of feed)
- changing the medium from soil to coco will give additional yield (but also needs coco nutes and EC and pH measurement)
- LSTing your plants, to make lower branches main colas
- change strain to something with more genetic potential to yield
- changing your grow method (SCROG and SOG both yield)
- add microherd
- add fulvics and humics to help nute absorption (prolly in Boost already)

I think the only way to really beef up yield with nutes alone is to really get it dialled in/

Well done mate, nice results from a 250w. I wouldnt change nutes if its going that well, you may squeeze a little more out of them, but why risk it ? If you want more bud get a bigger lamp. wink.gif

Your main bottle neck is your light a 400w would push your yield through the ceiling, if you have a nft try putting an air stone in the res and if its cold on a night add a heater or if ur res is to high in temp try using cannazyme for your roots to help keep the yield up

Cheers for the replies all smoke.gif

Im aiming for the 9 oz barrier next i think, then that will work out at a gram per watt, which will be very nice indeed biggrin.gif

I currently grow in rockwall cubes, the 3inch ones, then straight into NFT so no soil at all, I saw a massive increase in yield and plant size when i changed to NFT from previously doing it in soil.

I have a heater in the NFT tank, keeping nutrient temps at roughly 21 degrees give or take a little, and the nutrient pump i use also has a air pump in it, which keeps things nicely airated.

Whats this fulvic and humics you talk about? worth the price??

Looking for something to supplement the canna boost accelerator as this is stupidly expensive, almost 20 pounds for a 250ml bottle that doesnt last much longer then one crop really. (Pretty sure its primary purpose is to increase the nutrient absorption rate of the plants, so in theory, bigger plants, more yield)

I would love a bigger light, but i dont think i could get away with the electric usage as im pretty high as it stands at the moment. unsure.gif

canna boost is shit and over priced imo

iv used it on 4 grows in the past

using hammerhead pk 9/18 instead of a boost on this grow with much better results

I think that the plants' environment is the most important thing to have dialled in for optimum yields. Don't forget that 95%+ of what the plants 'eat' is the COČ from the air around them, so making sure that the airflow, temps and humidity are optimum for them to be able to use as much of it as possible will produce the best results.

The nutes from the soil or hydro water are more like 'vitamins and minerals' rather than actual 'proper food' to the plants - so long as they have the basics that they need available to them, and in the right quantities, then that's the best you can do for them in that respect.

IMO there's no 'magic formulas' or additives that will 'boost' the plants' yields beyond what they can produce at their best regardless of what all the snake oil 'specialist' canna products companies would like you to believe. wink1.gif
