1.5 weeks old and 2 look like this.
Previous water was thursday although I have just watered cuz the soil was dry. They are under a 400MH at about 16" (recomended 12" here)
I can see slight roots at bottom of pot, do they need potting up?

Tried to see what type of soil that is but you need to fill out your profile.
Doesn't look good mate, personally i would think 400w is alot for the littlens at such a delicate stage, best off with some sort of envirolight for the first 2-3wks IMO.
Whats the temps and Humidity like in there? also that soil in the last pic does look bone dry.
You dont wanna let them dry out to much, more damp then dry. best test is either with a moisture meter or to stick your finder about an inch into the soil and see how much moisture there is a bit further down.
Hope this helps.
GT.
EDIT: Did you plant directly into the soil? and did it already have somesort of feed in?

No got moisture metre, I must get one. Not hot, not cold. Nice and warm id say without a proper check.
Soil is B&Q seedling soil. The other 7 are fine, just these 2. Although I say fine, they are going a lighter green...with one showing a light greenyyellow tip.
Could they have done the nutes in the seedling soil and need upping?

They certainly don't need potting up, feeding or anything else.
Lamp should be fine. I have mine 9 inches from a 250 watt lamp from sprouting.
Though fluorescents can be easier for beginners ...
You just need to learn to water plants - water until saturated then wait till they've dried out - but not till they droop. With plastic pots you can go by the weight of the pots.
With a 400 watt lamp you'll need to be careful that water on the leaves doesn't act like lenses and burn the leaves.
I hope they recover.
Are you sure you haven't fed them ?
The compost looks a bit white ...

100% not fed them. I, if anything have been under watering them. Reason is I lost 10 on my last NFT grow due to over watering. I know this is soil but I figured under is better than over.
Ive added pics of the others. Some leaning like they have no solid support. Others yellowing tips???

They do look a bit beaten up ... possibly are a bit hungry too - perhaps through overwatering - possibly through watering the leaves. (?) The dried salts make me think that ... hard water ?
Though they're a bit lost in those pots, I would repot into some heartier compost, but probably in the same pots - (maybe shake off some of the compost ? ) - but with more compost in them

- I would take the opportunity to bury the lankier stems so they root from there.
(roots grow downwards)
You probably had the lamp too far away at some point - perhaps still do.
I keep my plants at 9 inches from my 250s all the way from seedling to harvest - hopefully someone with experience will say how close a 400 watt MH should be.
Click to view attachmentMake sure you have decent air movement.

I think you should fill your pots. They have way to less medium to develop a healthy root-system.
Looks like the medium just dried up under the 400watter and your plants had no water for a while.

Ill use the main compost now.
The reason they look half full is it was my first time in pots. I filled them, then wehn I watered they shrank. Lesson learnt.

I shook as much soil I could off and re-potted in the same pots with the B&Q Multi-Purpouse with added John Innes. Then watered till run-off.
I fear 2 might be beyond repair. The plan was for 9 in a 1mtr sq tent. Should I just veg longer to make up or try and get 2 more? There were seeds obviously.

Hello mate, I think you've simply let the little pots dry out way to much.....I hope they recover.
For next time - fill the pots right up with seedling compo - and water gently to avoid it getting compacted down. If it does compact down a bit top up the pots with more compo.
I use a wet/dry cycle on seedlings, but you need to be really careful not to let them dry too much when in little pots - a few hours too much without water could make all the difference. Mine get watered every 2nd day in little pots, with an extra bit of bottom watering in the inbetween days in the last few days before they are due to be potted up. I also use cap matting to wick up run-off back to the pots as they dry.

I did say "maybe shake off
some of the compost" ... blinkin' hydro types

They'll be set back a bit while they're establishing themselves again - you won't know for a week ...
But I'm sure you already know this plant is pretty robust ...
Unless they're feminised, it's going to be maybe 4 plants eventually ... I thoroughly reccomend bending or topping them once the boys have been dispatched and vegging longer so the space is well filled with flowering shoots - in my last two grows this happened at 6 weeks and I vegged for another two.

They are all feminazied. 2 down, 7 left.
When do you recomend topping? And bearing in mine im in a 1x1x2mtr tent. how many inch before I flower?
Help very much appreciated, thanks.
off topic but here goes. In my curretn hyrdro grow, at the back of the tent, one of the plant has certain branches that have slight mould. Can I chop those branches without harm to stop it spreading?
