first can i say a big hello.

iv been growing for the last five years in my cellar but have just moved to a new house [ rented] and the only place i have available is the loft unsure.gif what i have planed is to build a room in the loft 1.5x1.5x1.8ish with a 600hps. the room im going to build will have insulation in the walls of it 50mm kingspan plus more thrown over the to and sides . the things that worry me are ther is no insulation on the roof and i dont realy want to brake thru tha chimmny to vent out of so was thinking of just venting out in to the loft space away from the grow room . what worries me is im not sure if the loft will get realy hot with a 600 venting in to it or is ther something els i could
do and will the lack of insulation on the roof be a problem sad.gif . ideally i would insulate the roof but im on a tight buget till the overtime starts again cry.gif

any advice you could give me would be greatly welcomed

Just in the process of building a box in the loft with more or less the same dimensions as yourself and in an uninsulated loft with 50mm kingspan unsure.gif " are you me"Treehouse might help ya
Good luck wink.gif

thanks for the reply chaps.

been up there all day today putting the frame up and half the chip board is done. i also got my hammer out and started hammering away at one of the bricks in the chimney. i was at it for ten Min's when the chap next Dore went in to his loft to see what the hell all the noise was . and worst of all i could hear every word he was saying unsure.gif . has anyone ells got this problem.

would venting out at the other end of the loft be a big no no or would there just be too much heat with a 600
TwoRoach
If you mean you share a chimney then yes i have that problem sad.gif i dont think ill be extracting out of the chimney as ill have to knock bricks through and its closed at the top anyways wink.gif i think ill just vent into the loft for now till i get another fan.

hey tworoach

ye think that's the way ill have to go about it mate, just got the one fan my self and aint got the cash for a second one yet. i felt much safer in the cellar at the old house compared to the loft im in now, but it will be nice not have the humidity problems growing in the cellar brings 80% when flowering the only thing i could grow that made it to the end with no rot was nyc diesel so it will be nice to try something new [lemon skunk and white rhino] and they are already sprouted so its gona be a crazy couple of weeks getting things finished. i also found out that there's still a water supply up there from the old tank which will save my legs from carting all that water up the ladders
TwoRoach
I have the one fan aswell....for now its just a 5" but ill get a 6" for the second grow and use the old one as an intake. and you are a lucky beggar with the water supply thumbsup.gif im going to have to get some big bottles or a jerry can so i dont spill any water on the way up the ladder rofl.gif

Have you started building your box yet? do you have a peaked roof like me? if you do you may want to peak the roof of your GB to maximise height like i have done.... its really easy to do.... nothing technical about it.....i swear wink.gif doing that has meant i hide my cf in the peak and i think even my light will go into the peak aswell (but i wont know for sure until my cf and light are up) rofl.gif

good luck

good luck with the loft grow mate. A celler is a dream my g/f has a massive cellar but wont let me grow in there :-(

With your house being rented prob best not to start knocking through into the chimney. If your venting out into the loft it should be ok I would have thought thats what I do and its fine. Where are you intaking from?

I fond that growing in my loft and not sure about other growers the humidity problem you experienced in your cellar is the opposite. I have no humidity in there even though I vent in through downstairs got a fogger though and now its sweet.

Good look with our new strains - lemon is very nice spliff.gif

not made my mined up on the intake yet, iv two options intake from one side of the loft and out of the other, but as its getting colder now the air coming in might be too cold. option two is to cut a hole in the top of the built in cupboard in the
small bedroom ant vent in from their but its a good 4/5 meters from the grow room and would need a small fan to make that work. might just have to go with option one for now and c what happens.

how dose the fogger work tworoach ? and do you a fan to help with the intake

I vent into my loft grow from the bathroom, near enough below...

If your vegging, whack the fan on while you're in the shower to raise the humidity...

Venting in from inside the house allows you to keep temps up in the winter, and down in the summer....it's a good idea, rather than venting in from the loft itself which is prone to excesses of temp...
