Has anyone any advice on how to rid my buds of BUGS?

I was thinking salt water bath? but will the salt water affect the buds?

How about an ice bath to freeze the fuckers??

Any people got experience of this??

No pics atm but they look to be thrips.

Forgot to mension that im talking about buds that have been chopped and waiting to be dried.

Basically, i chopped and trimmed them and i found all sorts of insects crawling about on them. I shot them all in a sink full of water and this got most of them out but quite a lot still moving about!

This weed was grown outdoors BTW.

Cheers

If the plant has been cut already just let it dry out. The bugs will leave when the plant material has dried.

Problem is mate i dont want all these things running around my bathroom and house tbh lol.gif and with my bathroom obv being wet and dry its perfect for em to breed or something.

Any way of getting them out of the bud before i dry? Someone has suggested freezing them?

Thanks
WEEDSTAR
freezing them will most likily kill them but there still going to be there just dead so your going to be smoking dead bugs......

blow them off..... lol.gif
put them in the microwave and nuke them for a short while this will kill them and most probably burn them off therefor there is not going to be alot of bug left = happy tasting smoke

Or as some one said leave them to try they will crawl away and die the life cycle of these things are very limited

But i was you i would nuke them.

Water cure?

I'd just leave them to dry and the buds will leave of there own accord, I'd imagine.

just let them leave naturally - any remaining insects lodged in the buds are unlikely to be species that will be comfortable living indoors.. They'll either get out or quickly die (Unless you have cockroaches or woodworm in your bud.. rofl.gif)

Just make sure you don't hang them near any valuable house plants. smile.gif

i totally agree, let 'em go by themselves

they will disappear if just left to their own devices, your bathroom isn't somewhere they would choose to live

as andypotatoes said, the bathroom of a house or house in general isn't a friendly enviroment for them, they live naturally outside, they'll soon die and disappear if you leave them be

Get some lacewing. Add more friendly bugs to eat the aphids.

Well its too late now lol.gif i got stoned last night and ended up putting them in a tub in the freezer. Looked this morning and as youd expect its all just a mass of frozen stiff buds/leaves. A lot of the insects were on the bottom of the tub. So i then filled this tub with cold water with all the buds and insects still inside and stirred it all up! One by one i pulled the buds out by the stalk and give them a quick splash around in the water. Just left them in the airing cupboard to dry after giving them a quick shake to remove excess water cool.gif in the bottom of the tub was loads of dead insects including a TIC! wouldnt want that fucker crawling into me bed at night!

It should be interesting to see how they smoke/smell. The smell when i put them in the cupboard was just as strong as before frozen, if not more cool.gif

Will check for mold later on, but when you think theyv been getting pounded with rain for the last 3-4 weeks!! so bit more water aint gunna hurt.

I think next time il just bath in ice cold water straight away no point wasting time freezing..

to the Op:why do people ask questions and don't listen to the answers is beyond me...u shouldn't have put them in water let alone frozen them. The thrips would have f*cked off naturaly IF u had laft em to there own devices...once they had no food to "leach" off the plant, they would have gone elsewhere looking for more food (as said previously, this would not be in your humid bathroom let alone your house).try it out next time If you have this problem again that is wink.gif

First of all mate i did listen to everyones comments, and then thought about which one suited me. Didnt fancy microwaving them incase i vaped the thc.

And as iv said i think twice in this thread i personally didnt wanna leave all these little bugs (not just thrips but tics and other tiny things iv never seen before) to run/fly/slither all over my house no matter how long they live for coz then iv gotta clean them all up! And who knows how many of these insects would fucking breed then iv got a bigger problem. Who can say exactly what the hell was in the buds could have been anything crawling about in there.

All i was asking was if anyone had a way of ridding the buds of insects. As it happens iv frozen them and its worked in getting them all out which im happy with.

As to loosing thc crystals from freezing and stirring in water iv lost literally fuck all. Not like some other absolute bullshit iv read saying freezing will crack all the thc crystals off! There was sooo little amounts of crystals at the bottom of the tub i washed them all down the sink, seriously, it wouldnt of got mouse stoned. I would always use a tub with a flat bottom if doing this just incase you have a shit load of crystals at the bottom that need gathering from some white widow or a real crystally strain.

Now as to the smell and smoke of it when dried and cured, im still guessing. The smell is deffo not as strong as when i first chopped them and even not as much as when i first took out of the freezer. Its almost dry now, nother day or 2 then il cure it for a while and see how it smokes. And for any one interested il just shot a reply up in this thread for future reference of the topic...

ye let us know who it goes....after all knowledge is power as the say,as for u saying that crytals (thc glands) don't break off when put in freezing water,u are partially right on that one, putting your buds and dipping them in water (or gently strirring) will not break any off (only a very minute amount) whereas, creating a centrifugal force by stirring them (stirring them enough that they create a whirlpool) will,u said i didnt get any glands (or very little) at the bottom ov your water container, this might be that case but for future reference,if u leave the water for a day or two (the longer the better but u gotta bare in mind that the water can "rot" so 2 speak)to settle, the suspended thrichromes (if they atrre any) will sink to the bottom and then u can syphon the water away from the thc (thc sinks),hopefully that will help you,if not,its good to learn, let us know how they smoke geez... wink.gif

well, i freeze my trim to make bubble hash, so i'm guessing you will lose your glands - lots of them - as the whole point of freezing is that they become brittle and break off

just cos you can't see them in amongst all that protein doesn't mean they're not there

should of just chucked it up in the loft or sumat if you're THAT averse to crawlie things
smokinnonstop
eer ye im a fella!?

im not THAT bothered, but bothered enough to get the bugs out. You can pick up all sorts of nasty things from tics coz they like fury animal like rabbits, deer, birds which all carry dissease. wink.gif

No attic otherwise i would of done that obviously.

The buds i tried this with were from a dieing plant so they werent dense and full of thc, but had a fair bit of it. Put then in the bottom of the tub, after frozen, i shaked it about. Loadsa of dead insects at the bottom and a BIT of thc, i through it out, thats how much.

Anyway, after freezing them they look fine. But since i broke the cell walls by freezing, when i stirred them in water it seemed to absord into the leaves which made it smell like a water cure. The smoke after a couple of days cure is smooth, it still gets you as high as before. The smell is different to a weed smell when sniffing the buds and when being smoked it dont smell like weed which can be a good thing! But i wouldnt do this with decent weed coz i love the smell of spicy skunk in the mornings rofl.gif

So, next time i wanna get the bugs outa me buds il build a drying box for the shed!
