Just a few quick question to all you weedheads out there....

(outdoor grow)

1. Will the plants get enough light exposure from the sun?

2. What about when its night if it isn't pitch black outside. For example there is light reflecting of the moon. Does this not affect the plants?

3. What about UK temperature? Do you need to grow at certain times of the year?

Cheers....

1. Yes definitely, if you can put them somewhere where they will get as much light as possible throughout the day (I think six hours is the minimum off the top of my head). Can't remember how many watts per square foot full sunlight is but it's pretty impressive! You also get greater UV in sunlight than artificial bulbs, which causes the plants to throw out more trichomes, which are the source of the THC.

2. Plants have been growing outdoors and flowering / fruiting despite the moon for millions of years!
I think their dependence on total darkness to flower varies from strain to strain. I grew Green Devil in a back garden which got plenty of ambient light from streetlights and houses, including a window which was only a few feet away and often had light spilling from it, but it flowered no problem. Other strains might have hermied or refused to flower. But the darker the better at night really.

3. You want to start out in late spring/early summer, hoping to let the plant grow all the way through summer. Then towards the end of summer as the days get shorter the plant will sense this and will start to flower. This is what indoor growers replicate by switching to 12 hours of light and 12 of darkness to induce flower.

No problemo Dr H. As Punk says check the Guerilla Growing section for some diaries to give you an idea of when certain things should happen and I hope this brings you a lot of fun and of course ounces of tasty bud.

E2A: this is a particularly interesting time of year to look at the GG sections as people are either on the verge of chopping or have just chopped, so you can get a good idea of what to expect in this climate. Definitely helps to be down South!

tom answered you perfectly. the only thing i would add is choose a strain extremely carefully. some are more mould resistant than others, some strains flower for longer than others before ready, and some start their flowering earlier than others. some strains will put up with mistakes on your part, whilst others won't tolerate much mistake. all these factors need consideration.
