Just a quick Q.

Do i PH test the water before i add the feed, and then again when the feed is added ? or Both ?

If it needs adjusting do i adjust before adding the feed ? or after ? or both ?

So basically can i adjust the solution when the feed has been added ?

Thanks Guys spliff.gif

Yeah both would be fine mate....always good to know what lvls your water is at before you start and definitely check it again as you add the feed.
Rukus1
And yes, you can adjust it once the feed has been added mate. just do things bit by bit........slowly slowly, catch a monkey and all that !
Chris P
I would only bother pH adjusting after you've added the feed.

If you want to test the background pH of your tap water you can do that out of curiosity, but then that should say quite constant from your water company.

Are you in compost, or growing hydroponic?
If using Potting Compost and tap water in the UK, forget Ph, its not an issue to even think of. Your compost will buffer it for you, and compost also allows you to use water with a much wider range of Ph. So all in all, a non issue. Forget it.
But....
If you are growing Hydro, wait for a hydro-expert to come along and advise, I know nowt about the dark side.

PS, If you would fill in your "Profile" it will help folks give you better advise, suited to your requirements. At the moment, we have zilch info on your grow, so its hard to advise with any real accuracy wink1.gif

Thanks for all the advice Guys thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I am giving it a go in Coco, The nutes state that a certain level of ph is needed, so i'm guessin that i should be adjusting it !

But like you say, i really do need to fill in my profile smile.gif so off to do it now .......

Thanks Guys

after adding nutes wink1.gif
tipifree
allways after, couse nutes have some organic/chimic ingridians in it that r not nutural(pH7) and they will efect the pH level of your solution.
some of the liquid nutes indicates if it has hard or soft water nutritive formulas to best adapt to your water, any way just to be sure allways cheak it after ading the stuff........

be aware that your ph up/down will also affect the ec of your water, especially if like me you have very hard water and need to use a lot of ph down, i adjust my e.c. to around 1.1 and then add my ph down which brings it to around 1.3
Stonehenge
Hey Largeagain... Are you using straight coco or coco compost? You've put organic on your profile. unsure.gif

Straight coco and salt based nutes is a hydroponic method dude.

Not using an E.c meter, ( till funds allow) putting about 1-2 drops of ph down to 1ltr of water ... would that have a bad effect at a guess ?

do you know if you have soft/hard/very hard water?

i have to add 1/2 ml/l of 38% nitric per litre, but it all depends on type of ph down, hardness of water, type of nutes etc. as long as you're only adding a few drops i wouldn't worry too much, but get yourself an ec truncheon, they're only about 20 quid from fleabay

thumbsup.gif and a p.h. meter, worth it in the long run, takes the guesswork out and (if needed) lets you know of any serious changes (which can lead to an accurate(ish) diagnosis wink1.gif )

As said before mate get urself a nutrient truncheon I use a bluelab truncheon there a bit pricey but u can get cheaper models.takes the guess work out one of my friends does not use one and has had a few problems.

Did not read the post properly smoking too much sorry.get a meter and take the guess out.
