I was just fitting my fan filter and ducting when I realized my ducting is to big to fit threw the hole in my tent, ive tried pushing the ducting threw but it's no good, ive got a xl Budbox and my ducting is 150mm but looks like the hole for the ducting is no more than maybe 125mm!
Has any1 had this problem before and if so how did you go about sorting it?
Any1 got any suggestions how I can fix this problem?
Am I gonna have to use smaller ducting and get reducers or is there any other way I can sort this>?
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

ive had the same problem, is it insulated ducting? if it is take some of the insulation off it (from the end going into the tent, it'll be shorter and easier to put back on), if not like me cutting it might be your only solution sad.gif .

unsure.gif strange that my xl tent has 50mm smaller vents than my L tent thinkin bout it:stoned:

I don't know this tent but as a rule I would avoid reducers if at all possible as they reduce airflow.
I just cut a hole in my tent(dr100) with a razor blade and taped up around the ducting. Looks crap but better than small duct in my opinion.

Best Luck

But try anything before you start cutting holes in your tent - I've done it twice now and I regret it both times. You can get plastic 'ports' that screw over the hole you cut to make a more permanent/proper vent hole....and they're much better than duct taping around it, because over time and heat it comes loose.

Agreed. I have been planning to get these or make something similar for ages.

I reckon two bits of ply with holes cut out would do the job. One each side and screw em together. But then I live in sticks so buying stuff like that is a bit of a mission. sad.gif

Nah its just the aluminum metal type,I tried forcing it threw but the ductings not flexible enough.
I'm thinking would flexible ducting be any better?
Last resort will be cutting it but dont really wanna do that cause I know ill end up messing it up.
I've got the fan on just now but have the ducting coming outta the door just now till I suss something better, ill have to sort something soon thou cause ill need to fit the filter aswell.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated thanx.

So do they just work by screwing the coupling inside and outside the grow tent then just cut the hole in the middle then ducting will just ppass threw it?
They look like a good idea but just wondering if any1 has used them before and if they are as easy to use as they look?

im not sure but i think you'd cut a slightly larger round hole than the inner flanges i.d (if that makes sense wink.gif )
it might me a good idea to glue it with some glue to make sure its air tight & besides, its not like you'd take the flange back off rofl.gif

I recon if it is like a screw tite fitting it should be air tight when fitted, just sorta screw both sides in tight as and should be solid enough.
And yeah I was thinking that if I used this after time will the tent sorta threy or rip but I suppose glue or something to sorta seal it would work.
I just hope its the inside diameter thats 160mm or ill be back to square 1.
Anyways cheers for the find looks likes its gonna be a gower for me.

Put a slit down one side of your ducting and fold it over to start making a cone. tape it up with loads of duct tape and Bod is your uncle. No need for anything more elaborate and for God sake don't cut any holes in your growtent!!!!! I also put a few tumble dryer sheets in the exhaust so if the duct tape does fail your room still smells like a summer medow (without the weed of course)

Strange?? I have a Budbox xl 1.2 x 1.2 and I have a 5" intake and a 6" out take with 150mm foil extractor hose going into the tent and the roof has a hole big enough for 8" duct with a cord that you just pull tight around whatever size duct you use?? Is this the roof hole your having trouble with or the intake bottom hole?
tilimangro
had the same problem but used flexible ducting just managed to feed the ducting through almost bursting the outlet doing it

Ive tried the extraction up high and ive tried the 1 thats on the roof!
They look no more than 5" and I am useing aluminum ducting and I tried pushing it threw everyway possible.
I'm thinking that it aint a real budbox even thou its advertised as 1.I'm not sure if its kool to name where I bought it from but anyways on the site where I bought it from it says its a xl budbox 1.2m but doesnt mention the sizes of the extractions.

Dude was it 6" flexible ducting you used?
If trying to figure out if its worth trying some flexible ducting!
