hey all Hope your all well

Im in need of some advise on setting up a 4pot wilma and using scrog. first off i will give you the detentions and also what i propose in doing.

Dimensions W= 16 L=20 H=30 INCH

my setup
well as you can tell by the dimensions its abit of a small stealth grow thats going to be kept in my shed.
I'm going to be running
prob 2. 250watt cfls
4pot wilma system
80mm intake fan
120mm outake fan running past 2 lots of active carbon first lot is active carbon sheet and the 2nd lot is a airfilter from a car (k&n) filled with carbon in it
I do this to 2x filter any smell and also by the time the air has ran down the ducting to the 2nd stage the humidity has become lower there for the carbon will work better due to the lower humidity level or in theory anyway

Now the 4pot wilma system has a stated dimension of W26 L 22 H 7.5
As you can tell this is bigger then my space But im only going to be running 2 of the pots so maybe i can some how squeeze it in also looking at the pictures it may be a possibility to cut it down so it fits nice and snug. i do realize this can not be done to a huge extent as there will not be enough water to cycle without it running dry...... if this is not an option ill just make my grow cupboard slightly bigger

I think the best way to ask the question is just to list them lol.gif

1. will i be able to cut the wilma down or is this a daft idea and i should just make the grow cupboard bigger
2. will 2 250 watt cfls be enough and how should i run these 2 of the same color or run both red and blue at the same time
3. Will i have enough height the setup is 7.5 high there leaves me with 22.5 inch if i take 3.5 inch off for the light this will leave me with a grow height of 19inch Ive never grown so im not sure how tall the plant would have to be before i start to flower it and how much it will grow when in flower
4. is clay the best to use when using wilma for cannabis

And could some one direct me to a good scrog guide

thank you

All I can suggest at the moment is that if you're thinking about burning 500W of electricity (2x250W CFLs), you would be much better off with and get much better results by using 2, or maybe just 1x250W HPS instead. thumbsup.gif

Thing big prop i have with hps is the price of the ballast box and the heat created i imagine in a small grow its going to get mega hot?

and would a hps use more?

edit

Ok saying that sounds really silly now as it would cost more doing the cfl thing as 1 250 cfl costs around 40 quid so 2 of them would be around 80 quid and i can pick up a ballast box for that

Ok so what are your thoughts on using just 1 250 hps? vs using 500watt cfl... would the hps be much better?
Scribb|e
No - a Watt is a Watt is a Watt - is doesn't matter what's burning it. wink1.gif

2x250W CLFs will use 2x the electricity than 1x250W HID would, and the HID would produce more and better end product. thumbsup.gif

Also, with HIDs being more efficient than CFLs, they actually produce *less* overall waste heat - they just radiate it differently in more of a concentrated 'point source' fashion. If you're ventilation is up to scratch, and you put a small fan blowing across the lamp(s), you can get them practically right on top the plants. wink1.gif

Ok then that's good to know. looking at light options was thinking of MaxiBright Ipac Complete 400w there's only 5 pound difference from the 250watt so sounds a good idea to just go for the 400watt. its 105 pounds and comes with reflector and ballast.

with hps is there a need to change lamps when in veg/flower or does one lamp have the whole light spectrum

A wilma is not really an ideal system to use with limited height seeing as its quite a tall system

In fact there are not many systems that are tbh unless you use a small bubbler system or similar

I'd be looking to use just pots and hand water

Owd
jiffa
or an nft try maybe , thats lower than most decent size pots

e2a- after owds post lol.gif yeah if you got 30 inch lol.gif no go for hps

Mate you have only 30" height so my advice would be forget any hps

And if using hps lights you need proper inline fans

Also a proper carbon filter is a must.........They stink

If I were you i'd do a complete rethink....sorry

My mate grows and yeah it honks. I would say my odor control unit is very good tryed it on my mats grow the air blasting out of the ducting did not honk
i could make my grow some what taller if needed and fitting fans where ever needed is fine with me as long as i get a helping hand from you guys
Looking at both the pros and cons i am very interested in growing with a hps would another 10 inch on top of that so 40inch sound better.
Im not looking for huge yields im just looking for a good experience that i will enjoy

lol.gif dude just like go faster strips. nah tbh with you its my old one would not fit on the new car and its just been sitting here so thought filling it with carbon would make a good filter

i know they know there stuff they been doing it a lot longer then i have. smile.gif wink.gif
maybe its time to make my cupboard taller.
If i knew i would use a wilma i would have made the thing to the right size lol.gif
